We ended up postponing our September trip due to all the hurricanes. We had a GREAT price on a car in September ($112 total). For our October trip (25th to Nov. 1st), the base price we have for an intermediate car is $179.95 and with the priceless and entertainment book discounts, it comes to $170.11 total (when you include taxes). Do you think this is as good as it's going to get? TIA!!

My Oct rate has not budged since I made them in July. I fear I will be again paying a high amount as I did in July when the rate did not drop. I checked this morning and the rates have gone up. ugh

That's the same rate that I have. I keep checking - but I doubt it will go down. At least it's better than the rate I paid in July.

Going about the same time as you and our rate hasn't changed. This trip's car rental is the highest we have paid in years.

Whoa, I just checked my dates for fun, to compare with the rate I booked a few weeks ago, and it's more than doubled!!!!!!!!!! The base rate was like $380 or something for fullsized, and the extra day was $66. Yikes!!!!!!!!! Glad I have mine booked alreayd. It's higher than in years past, but sure beats that rate.

Mine went down $300 (from May for October), then down
$20 (in Sep for October) and I checked yesterday - went back up $300. Today is showing no cars available for my rental dates.

Something quirky going on with National's site I think.

I've got $250 for Oct. 14-24 in an intermediate. I think I used the priceless ID and $20 off Entertainment book coupon. I think the system is messed up today too since I've been trying to get a rate for a friend and keep getting error messages or no cars available.

I am so disappointed in National's rates lately. I'm a big fan of National, but they are forcing me to look elsewhere. I paid alot in July (highest ever) only to show up at the EA to an empty lot and was directed to choose from the intermediate lot--first time ever of selecting an inter. car (and we travel to WDW 5-6 times a year). Right now I have a full size reserved for a total of $333 for 12 days (Oct. 20 AM to Oct. 31 PM), that includes a $20 coupon and the priceless code.

Dollar is a much better choice lately. Even though I have to go to the counter, I'm getting $119 a week plus a 10% discount using the Orlando Magic car (code: MAG), making my total price $276. That's a huge difference and I'm still holding both ressies.

My daughter, who's going during our trip, but only 7 days reserved a minivan with Dollar yesterday with the new COMMD code for a minivans for $189 a week. Her total is $265, much better than the rate she has with national for a minivan. National she has the $235 weekly rate, minus the $20 coupon, minus 10% off (the priceless code doesn't work for minivans). I believe she has a total price of $276--since she's not a member, she has a counter wait either way, so she'll need to decide which she wants.

Come On National---start being competitive again---don't force me to go elsewhere.....sorry I had to vent! and if you're listening, fix your website, it is the screwiest website ever.

I keep getting the "this car class is sold out. please pick another class" message with National. ( minivan oct 15-23). Is the site quirky or are they really sold out? I do think that Dollar has better deals right now.

$273 for 11 days for a standard

used the amex discount(it would not let me use priceless)

and a 2 car upgrade coupon in Ent book(compact to standard)

I booked mine awhile back through Budget. They seemed to be the cheapest of them all for me. I have it from Oct 15-23 for 158 total plus an extra 20 dollars off coupon when I get there. It is for a compact car. After looking at the prices now which are at over 300 for the week I am glad I booked it when I did.:Pinkbounc

I hate to say it, but I don't think you will get a better rate. In the past 2-3 days, the rates have almost doubled. We ended up calling a rental company at the airport and they told us they had to send many cars up north due to the hurricanes and they don't plan to bring them down for a few weeks. So many companys are dealing with less cars, so they are raising the rates. Just my 2 cents.
