I see that the Chevy Uplander is listed on Nationals website but what other models of Minivans are you seeing these days?

Also, are DVD players 'standard' in their Minivans or should I plan on bringing a Laptop Car Adapter for movies? (We are driving down)

Thanks!
Christine

DVDs are not all standard in rental minivans.

I am renting a mini-van from Tulsa in June to travel to Williamsburg, VA. I was concerned when it said Chevy Uplander or similar. Those similar's always scare me. :) I called our local Alamo. Talked to a very nice guy. He said we had a very slim chance of getting the Chevy Uplander because it is the only mini-van they carry that comes with the DVD entertainment system -standard. The other types of vans are: Dodge - Grand Caravan, Pontiac - Montana and I believe the Honda Odyssey. I checked the websites on all of them and they seem nice. Am I anal retentive or what???

Ok, here it goes!!

The Chevrolet Uplander comes STANDARD with a DVD player (meaning, if you see an uplander take it!!). National has many Uplanders, along with Pontiac's Montana SV6 (which is like its brother, The Uplander, and also comes with a standard DVD player). The only other vans National carries are the Toyota Sienna and the Dodge Grand Caravan (both do NOT have standard DVD players, so 99.9% chance is that you will not have a DVD player in those vehicles...)

So, if you want a van with a DVD, get a Chevy Uplander or Pontiac Montana SV6!! :teeth:

Thanks! I'll make sure to try to get the Chevy or the Pontiac... Not sure what kind of options I'll have though.. I'm renting from our local (not Int'l) Airport, so I'm figuring it could go either way - either they'll have very limited stock or not picked over at all! Maybe I'll swing past this weekend & scope out what is in the lot!

If at all you have a choice, I would suggest the pontiac over the chevy, because the interior is a little nicer trim. You get a few options that are not standard on the chevy (dual power sliding doors) and just a overall more comfy interior....
