We'll be using National EA when we arrive at MCO this Sunday & I was wondering if some of you who frequently rent cars can help me with this question. There will be DH, myself, & 11 yr old DS & DD. Haven't packed yet, so still unsure on luggage but I'm almost certain we'll have at least 2 large suitcases, possibly a medium sized one. Can anyone suggest an intermediate they've gotten from the EA that has excessive or adequate luggage space? I've heard that the PT Cruisers have limited luggage room, but I know DH would enjoy driving one for the week. Just trying to get an idea of which cars to not even bother with if they have limited storage. Thanks in advance for any suggestions you all can provide. :D

Meant to also add that I'm aware that PT Cruisers are not technically intermediates, so although they continue to randomly be found on the EA, there's no guarantee for any vehicle besides intermediates. That's why I'm planning on the best intermediate & hoping for something alittle extra.;)

Well last two trips I reserved an Intermediate on Emerald Aisle and ended up choosing something that was not an Intermediate. I can tell you that I saw some Dodge Stratus (I think) and Olds Alero as the actual sedans. Maybe a Buick LeSabre too. I also want to say I saw Subarus, but that just doesn't sound right.

We ended up choosing a Jeep Liberty and a Pontiac Aztec from the Aisle both of which has plenty of space for the 4 of us.

I have read many places that they have Mitsubishi Galant's. Maybe that is what you are thinking of.....

Also, has anyone ever experienced full size cars in the Emerald Aisle?

I got an Impala on the EA last month. Huge trunk.

We got a Buick Rendevouz last month at the EA. This is definately a full size SUV. We had enough space in the back to sleep if we wanted to! I think this can have 3 rows of seats, but only the front 2 were up.

Thanks for all the responses folks....keep em coming! I'm alittle confused though on which mentioned are considered full-size & which are intermediates. The Rendevous sounds great but I can't count on it being on the EA as it's not an intermediate, is this correct? I take it that the Impala is a full-size also. Can someone who frequents the EA please post the intermediates which are most frequently seen on the EA that have the largest trunk space? Because I'm not a car buff, I wouldn't know one from the other! I'm at least familiar with the Stratus, since one of our cars is a Stratus and the trunk space is generous.....just hoping to try something different. This really isn't a matter of life or death, just would hate to have the kids have their heart set on a certain car, only to find that our luggage won't fit! I really do appreciate all the advice you guys offer. :D

The intermediates I have seen most often are Grand Am's and Alero's. The Impala I mentioned was a full size. The Rendevous is an SUV. They frequently have Chevy Malibu's/Classics, which I consider intermediate but they sometimes call full size.

Someone had posted on the running EA thread that they asked an attendant if they could have a larger car than was on the Executive EA and both had their requests granted. Doesn't hurt to ask! Good luck!

I posted the trunk sizes for all the popular mid size and full size cars about a week ago. I expect a search would bring that info up.
Mid size cars are: Aleros, Galants, Classics (aka rental Malibus), Grand Ams and similar.

Thanks for the info. Debbie & Gail. I always seem to find what I need from these boards. :D I can't believe I missed that thread, Gail! I'll definitely do a search after I get home from work today.

We had a Saturn L300 sedan the first week of May. It had an amazing amount of trunk space. We fit two large suitcases, a carryon, and a stroller in the trunk easily.

You are welcome and just for reference, most of them run about 14.6 cf.

GeminiMom, When do you get in to MCO? I may have to wrestle ya for the rendevous or the Jeep. We arrive 1:43pm. Looking for enough luggage space too. Are you going to DW & US? Which first, were going AKL then PBR. Good luck. We'll have some DIS green yarn hanging off of something say howdy if we pass. YO

*Ahem*.....Not even gonna touch that one! ;)

Back to topic.....I peeked in the back of a PT Cruiser in a parking lot today.....Yikes! Seriously limited cargo room in that one, we may be crossing the PT off the list of possibilities.:(

Add to the lack of trunk space a very very underpowered car.

We rent a compact size car, then use our Happenings (Entertainment) coupon for a 2-class upgrade and end up with a Gran Prix or Monte Carlo. ::yes::

On one of our trips, we got the Mitsubishi Galant off the EA - Very limited trunk space. The Grand Am was probably a better choice for trunk space.

they both have exactly the same size trunk. 14.6 cf.

Maybe the trunks are the same size, but laid out differently? Sometimes they are taller, but shorter length-wise, or vice versa. It may be that Snoozan's luggage fit better in the Grand Am trunk, even though the "size" of the trunk was the same. ::yes::
