National - Great reservation service!

I've been shopping a 1 week minivan rental for February.

I've used Alamo (never again), Dollar (like, but don't like paying for extra driver), Budget (my favorite thus far due to fastbreak).

Prices haven't been great, but I got $264 from dollar & booked that.

I enrolled in Emerald Club @ national, for free thanks to Mousesavers! Unfourtnately rates still were higher than dollar.

Today I went to americanexpress & looked @ their rates...National was $268.00. I booked it.

So then I called Emerald Club to see if I can add my member # to this reservation. She says she can't do that, but she can duplicate the reservation as a new one, using my EC#. She did that for me, got me the same rate! Of course there were a couple glitches, my reservation came up as Travelocity (which they CAN'T duplicate), I explained that it was Amex. Finally she put me on hold, came back with my new reservation number.

Very friendly, very helpful! I hope this is a good sign, and she definitately earned the $4 difference between Dollar & National!

Curious......
You stated that you went to the AmEx site to look at and booked National Car Rental......
I tried to look at AmEx rates, but it would not bring up anything for National!
I know I have used AmEx rewards for discounts and certificates towards National in the past!
What are you looking at that I can't pull up??

Never mind....... I was looking under "rewards" not just travel..... I wonder if that means I can't use reward pts for National anymore?
