Ok, since National seemed a little confused, I thought I'd go to my peeps here who are wise.

I am an Emerald Club member and just reserved for the first time w/ National. I would like to have DH as an additional driver. He is not a member (but could be if I need him to be).

So I must go to the counter, right? or if he's a member too would I necessarily need to go to the counter? If you can tell, I'm trying to avoid the counter if at all possible.

BTW, we aren't going to Orlando unfortunately this year but Michigan to bury DH's father's ashes so this will be in Detroit but thought alot of you have experience in general.

Thanks in advance for at least reading this and for any wisdom and/or experience you can throw my way.

National automatically allows a spouse or a business associate as an additional driver for all Emerald Club members. No need to go to the counter. I'm the member - DH is not. DH drives the car up to the kiosk and hands over my membership card and credit card. Once or twice, we've been asked if he is my spouse, but usually there are no questions asked.

Thanks. I called again last nite and spoke to a different rep who said pretty much what you did.
