Going the 1st week of February again and was wondering what might be the best way to go with a rental car. Last year we ( myself, wife, daughter (9) and twin sons (6)) went emerald aisle and ended up with a full size that they let us have instead because they were unusually low in the aisle. Is there a difference between standard and full size? What cars are in those classifications at MCO.It looks like on the National website the car descriptions have not been updated in a while. We got a Mitsubishi Outlander last year which was almost more suv than sedan and it was listed as full size. Would we stand more of a chance getting something like a minivan or suv in the emerald aisle, we arrive on a Thursday morning.

Thanks for any help or opinions.

A standard is a 2 door full size, such as a Monte Carlo. A full size example would be an Impala or Grand Prix. With 5 of you, I would reserve full size on Emerald Reserve if there isn't much of a price difference. Lately they have not had much above intermediate on the EA.

That's interesting....my daughter rented a standard last summer. she used a 2 car upgrade from a compact to a standard. She had to go to the counter and after she was done, they told her to choose any car from the full size aisle. She did and got a century or impala? 4 door (seated 6--3 front/3 back). Since there is no standard aisle, you do choose from the full size aisle. You can go to the National website and choose US car stock (whatever it's called) and you can select the class size and it will tell you what they consider what class cars are in. Since we usually only choose full size for ourselves, this is the only time anyone in our family had booked standard.

I highly doubt it and wouldn't count on it. Every time I use the Emerald Aisle, I've only been able to get an Intermediate size car. It's rare now to see anything other than Intermediates on the Emerald Aisle...so if you have 5 people and really need the room, I'd book a Full size with Emerald Reserve.
