National Dropped again

Drat. :(

My ressie refuses to get any lower. I thought at first it was only those with September ressies that were getting lower, but now August (we're traveling then) is being reported.

This is what I'm getting, and while I think it's a good deal, I keep hearing of others getting it lower.

National Full-Size EA for 8 days (Aug 3-11)

Base Rate: 146.99
Extra Day: 24.50
DC Disc: -34.30
Coupon: -16.80

Subtotal: 120.39

With taxes and fees: 164.79

Is this in line with others booking August?

I have the same reservation - Full Size, EA, 8 days at end of August.

Base rate of 169.13
Discounts of 33.83 & 16.57 (Disney Club)

Total after surcharges & taxes = $162.81.

I've been trying to get it to go down, but its just not happening. This total is very close to what we paid last year for same reservation, so guess I can't complain too much. I'll keep checking and hope for lower!;)

I have been checking National for quite a while nor for our August trip, we are going from 8/11-25 and I have found that the best deal I could get was DOLLAR for 109.00 a week for a full size car plus taxes.
Because I'm keeping the car for an extra half a day I'm being charged for an extra day but with all taxes included my rental is $325 which is the cheapest I have found for a full size.
National would not let me use the free weekend day on a 15 day rental but they would on a 14 days and that wouldn't help because they charge an arm and a leg for one day only rental, not worth the headache!

There should be a way to see directly if three discounts are being applied - first, check a rate with the DC and coupon codes going through the normal, non-EA reservation portal. Then check the identical rental, with the same codes, after logging in as an EA member.

If the two rates are the same, then the DC contract discount has replaced the EA discount. If the latter rate is lower, then all three have been applied, at least in part. (When I did this test, both rates were the same.)

It's entirely possible that for some EA memberships, one can do a triple piggyback. But I haven't seen it. (for the record, my EA membership isn't through Disney Club, since I'm not a member - just using the coupon in the sampler pack.)

At this point, this is more of a curiosity than anything else, since saving $5-10 really isn't worth the time it takes to secure it.
