Anyone who is familiar with the convertibles at National......we have one booked for April/May trip and are wondering just what vehicles are usually available? I have heard that they have both Sebrings and Eclipses......more of one than the other? Are these cars usually in good condition with low mileage? Several cars I have rented with National have had 20,000 or more miles on them. Also who has sucessfully used their DC discount since Jan1? Any problems? I am still holding onto a reservation with DC discount. I have a backup but I would be saving $62.00 if I can use the DC discounted reservation.I am hesitant to rely on this but would love to save the money. What do you think?

I have only gotten the Sebring at National.

They are in fairly good shape, but... Convertibles seem to take more wear and tear. I had a little trouble with my last top. Now I will admit that I am spoiled. I have a Saab Convertible and the top on that is SO much easier then the Sebring.

CarolA, thanks for the reply. I was spoiled with my last convertible rental with Dollar..........brand new Sebring with leather seats and about 700 miles on it!! It still had the new car smell!! However, the rate I have with National does not even compete with Dollar so I will be sticking with them and hoping for the best.

I thought that the rate with Dollar was the best with the Kiss3 rate code. Did that rate expire?
I rarely worry about the mileage as I am not buying the car.
There are very few convertables out there now, perhaps the Toyota will show up on the convertable aisle some day.

Gail Hayden, We have 2 different reservations with National, AAA and DC with the DC discount being the lowest. And the discount is off of a $199 weekly rate. Since we are going to have the car almost 3 weeks the rate is quite a bit lower than Dollar with the KISS3 rate.I booked these last summer and still haven't found anything better and doubt that I will. What is your opinion about the DC discount? I know you were holding onto one of these too, did you keep it? Are you going to give it a try ?

Yep, another poster just used it and it went well for that poster.
According to the station manager at MCO, if the computer accepts it, they will honor it. The last time they did not even ask to see my card.
I also got a nifty rate using AARP. About the same as the EC contract number. I only have one reservation. :)

DC = Disney Club ?? they are still accepting discounts with that even though it expired at the end of Dec ???? Thanks Michelle

That is excellent .. I wouldn't dare to try as my trip isn't till Oct but hey good luck for the rest of you .. Michelle
