Hi everyone. I checked in with Mousesavers yesterday because I have to change my dates of our next Disney trip and in so doing was finding absolutely outrageously expensive car rental rates for our new dates which will be in March - not spring break time though. She had a new post about an American Express contract ID that I then used to test the rate. IT WAS AMAZING - a EA base rate of $137! Has anyone else used this ID and are there restrictions on it that I am not aware of? I am nervous at how good a rate it popped up. On my confirmation it lists the ID as American Express Agency Family Pass. I do have an American Express card - is this enough - and does it even matter as I am an EA member and won't be going to the counter anyways?

TIA.

It does not appear that you need anything more than you AMEX card. They don't check this stuff anyway.

My rate is better, btw with the EA contract ID, by about 65.00 per week.

I have an existing reservation for an intermediate using the EA contract ID. I just tried the American Express ID code and it's much higher. Our trip is May 2-12, so it's probably a date sensitive code.

Thanks guys. I just wanted to bounce it off of the experts. It must be a date sensitive thing because what was totally freaking me out was that I could not get a lower base rate with any other contract ID, even EA, than $189 per week. I can get discounts and coupon codes off of that rate, but that seemed way too high for me. When I put in the AMEX ID and got a much much lower base rate I was very happy. Gail, I wish I could figure out how to get even lower but I have tried everything and every coupon I know exists and I am a member of BJ's. I think its because its March that I will be traveling in. While I can get a good airfare because its not the weeks of Spring Break, car rental companies must keep their rates high for the entire month. That's the only thing I can figure out. But I am happy enough with the AMEX rate.

Keep checking, my rate was high a couple of months ago, but as the date got closer the rate fell, now it is up again. Go figure.
I don't go by base rate, btw, I go with the final total. Base rate was higher with the DC code than it was with the EA code, but, in reality, the bottom line was lower by about 8.80. BUT, I opted to spend the 8.80 more because the DC code expired on 12/31/04 even if they are accepting it (at a VERY low discount, btw) now. I simply did not want to take the chance of having to pay a much higher price in case one of the budding geniuses at the gate actually paid attention to something for a change.
