Is anyone finding a good combination of codes and coupons for rentals in May. I am still at over $30.00 a day and hate paying more than $20.00 a day.

It seems that the car rental agencies are really trying to send people over to Magical Express with their high rates.

also wondering if anyone has used the Carlson Wagonlit code that used to be on MouseSavers. It still works and gives me the best rate, but I thought I remembered seeing somewhere we aren't supposed to use it anymore. Is that right?

What size vehicle are you looking for?

I have a compact reserved with National for eight days for a total of $164.51 (picking it up on May 18th). As of today's price check, a midsize SUV is $166.68. So it looks like as we're getting closer to my travel date, prices may start dropping.

Looking for May 16-21 and either an intermediate or compact. We normally have an intermediate, but with these rates, geesh.

Are you an Emerald Club Member?? If so, using the Emerald Club Contract # of 5007125 and the Emerald Club Member $40 off coupon code of ND1833JJF for your dates I came up with $140.35 for an intermediate.

I have a good rate too. April 29-May 11 (2 week rental) intermediate. Paying $243. So just $121 a week after taxes and fees. Not bad. Using 5007125 and $40 coupon ND1833jjf.

I went back to National and plugged in the Emerald Club No. and the $40.00 coupon code and got the better rate, thanks guys. I also checked the intermediate SUV, and it is funny that the base rate is $14 less than a regular intermediate, but the discount with the same code is less, so it ends up costing $4.44 more, weird, huh?

Did you always have this good of a rate, or did your rate get better the closer you got to your trip? Hope mine gets as low as yours. :cool1:

My rate has dropped at least once a week for the past 3-4 weeks. I started at $343 in January. My rates for August and October continue to be high, so hoping for a drop. My friends rate (May 4-11) started out at $250 and is now down to $121. So check often and watch the boards because everytime my rate drops, I post.

I haven't had any luck with prices for a 2 week rental in November 8-21. Is it just because it is too early?? Do you have to plug the codes in a specific order? I would prefer the midsize SUV but am open to anything if the price is right!!:rotfl2: Any help is greatly appreciated. It seems I have had luck in the past helping others with their rates using alamo but now I am having trouble.

It is still too early for good rates in November.

Wow,

I tried the Emerald club coupon the last few months and the rates weren't that good...Best rate I could find was $140, intermediate for 5 days with Dollar....

Just tried Emerald and received the same car for $100...hurray!!! Last year I got a minivan for $118 for our May trip, oh well, can't find anything close.

I have already booked a minivan for Nov trip with Dollar for 9 days rate was $242. Will continue to keep checking rates and hopefully it will drop some. Last Nov trip I paid the same $$$ that's why I booked in now, in case it shoots up in price.

Good Luck...

What's up with using this code??? Is it being denied? Always run it through when checking rates.

Have you tried the vacation outlet code, usually better for me (or AAA).

I agee the vacation outlet code is usually better for me too. But right now I'm using the EA code 5007125 because it's taking an extra discount off where the vacation outlet code is not. So watch both codes as I've bounced back and forth between the two of them over the past month.

what or should i say where is the vacation outlet codes to be found?

thanks

I have used the Carlson code in the past..the company has changed it name...(slipped my mind, the new name right now) it provided the best rates. I did stop using in when Mousesavers suggested against it. I was nervous I'd get there and be charged a higher rate...have you used it successfully in 2007 without any issues??

I tried the rental outlet code and their contract ID and it was $147 but with their code and the contract ID ND1833JJF and it brought my car down to $117 from Apr 23-30 but they don't allow pickup from Dolphin. I will be on property already and it is $8 less but I would wind up paying that or more to take a taxi to the airport to pick up a car.
I guess I will stay with the Dolphin pickup but using that code and ID would save you if you are picking up at the airport.

Thanks Pocahantas. When should I really be actively searching August???:confused3

I'm going in August too (21-28) Rates are ridiculous!!!! Looking at almost $300 for and intermediate!

Anyway it's never too early to book. Just check regularly (I'm anal and check a few times a day :rolleyes1 ) and as the price drops keep rebooking.

I have a "National August" thread going. Stop by to look for price drops or to post your own finds! :thumbsup2
