National Code- 8572967

Another code that I came accross that gives a good rate, without insurance included, is 5063773. Not as good as the 67 code but still a good rate.

Apparently that code is from PRT Travel

So I put this in for August and it's about $100 cheaper than Emerald Club code. If I use this code instead of Emerald Club code, am I still able to use Emerald Club benefits (like just going to the aisle to pick the vehicle?)

Yes...if you replace the Emerald Club number with another code (and you are already logged in),you will still see the message at the top of your confirmation "Proceed Straight To Emerald Aisle"

I just contacted National this morning regarding our use of this code. I am awaiting a reply and will post what they have to say. There seems tro be quite a bit of concern around the insurance portion of the reservation

This is a good way to ensure that codes are pulled from everybody. If you have concerns about whether the code will be honoured, take a lesson from the folks at sites like flyertalk. Reserve at another company at your second best rate so that if the code isn't honoured, you cancel at National and go to your fall back rental, if the code is honoured cancel the 2nd reservation.

Thanks for the link. At least we now know I single handedly did not cause some sort of car rental apocalypse I am awaiting the response. We have a backup ressie somewhere else anyhow.

Sorry, not going to get drawn into it - but it's a great idea that you have a back up ressie. That is a good plan for anyone using a code that they may or may not be entitled to. As wee-haggis pointed out, it is important to know if those using the code have insurance coverage as there will be none through the code and consequently, through your credit card.

I have gone ahead and cancelled my 67 ressie, my old hertz ressie and re-booked through Dollar using credit card points. Problem solved now we pay nothing...best deal of all!
