Nathan was born on June 5, 2005. One week later we found out he had Down Syndrome and embarked on a journey with lots of peaks and valley's. November 2008 Nathan had his adenoids removed and he developed a severe neck/airway infection and required a tracheostomy to be placed on December 22, 2008. He did well and on June 29th, 2009 his tracheostomy tube was removed. One week and one day after Nate's tracheostomy tube was removed, July 7th 2009, he was diagnosed with ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia B Cell). Nate's port was placed on July 9th and his first dose of spinal (intrathecal) chemotherapy was started. When does it all end???????
We decided to wait until Nate was done with treatment to go on his Wish Trip. Happy to report that November 23rd is the end of his leukemia treatment. On October 23rd 2012 we are going to Ohio to train and receive Nate's Service Dog also... This year and next will be two years of celebration and thankfulness. We have traveled a long road and are ready for some good times. Ironically, the last time Nate was at Disney was for his 3rd birthday in June 2008. He got sick that fall. We are looking forward to going back at the end of this journey. Looking forward to all the trips and tricks of the trades to be learned here. Thanks to everyone ahead of time for your input!
