Natalie & Phil's Oct 25th Wishes Wedding TR: Vendor reviews at last!! :)

I can understand why this is upsetting. It's the same reason we're traveling for a wedding too. We're not inviting everyone person we know plus all the co-workers of our families. It's hard not to think of each extra person as $100+, but that's exactly what they are. Spending $100+ each on people that you don't know is very frustrating. Although it may be difficult to say, I would talk to them and suggest that since both are going that they could explore by themselves on the day of the wedding. I know, it's hard, I feel for you. Good Luck!!

I would talk to the BM and let him know that since both mothers are coming that it might be best that they both find something fun for them to do. I would definitly not want them to be at my wedding if I didn't know them. I think it's very nice of you to invite them, but you are not obligated to have them there. I can understand one coming to not let her feel left out but if she's got another mom coming and they can go and do something while the wedding is going on then they should, and they shouldn't even feel like they NEED to be invited just because their son and daughter are attending the wedding.

I don't think your wrong for being upset about it, but I don't think you need to still invite them to your wedding, not that an uninvited is the way to say it but the BM should be able to just tell him mother and mother in law that since they will both have each other they will have to find something else to do.

Thanks for the support  I've been worrying over this for the past few days. It's just felt so awkward.

Thank you for your advice, i'm glad people understand! I've been worrying I'm sounding selfish. I think you are both right, talking to them will be best, it just feels really awkward. Thanks again.

Oh gosh..I guess what they should have said to you was.. Now that the other mom is coming, we wanted to thank you for extending the invite to Mom #1, but it's no longer needed. Unfortunately, some people lack common sense when it comes to manners. That is a really tough spot. Personally, I'd ask them if you could revert to the original plans. Maybe say that you really can't budget for another guest (if it's true or not).

I agree (with everyone!). In this situation I would definitely say that as the situation has changed it would be best to go back to their original plan. If it was my Mum who was joining the holiday I would not have expected her to be added to the wedding party and even if she was left alone for the day I know she would still have a wonderful time doing fun things.

I wouldn't waste anymore energy worrying about it and break it gently but firmly. I'm sure there won't be any problems

Oh, Natalie! I'm so sorry you've been put in such an awkward position! What is it about weddings that seems to bring out the worst/strangest behavior in other people!!

I agree w/princess wendy ... they should've tactfully bowed out of the first mom attending rather than just assuming that BOTH moms could come!

I also agree that if you can, talking to them is the best way to go, and hopefully everyone will understand. Please keep us posted on what happens ...

Thank you for posting and for your advice. I'm glad people understand where I'm coming from! It really has been troubling me!

Thanks Claire! I'm such a worrier and this hasn't helped! Thanks for your advice :) hope your plans are going well and your leg is feeling much better!

Thanks Amy! Everything had been quite stress free until recently, what with the dreaded room block worries, the MK Shoot have they/haven't they cancelled them woes, now this. I'm sorry to hear of all the troubles and worries you've been having of late! Hope everything is looking up for you! Thanks for your advice too. I think talking will be best, wish me luck!

Hi everyone, i'm in a bit of a dilemma and I really could do with some advice/opinions please.
Basically, when we were all beginning to look at flights late last year, DFs Best Man informed us that they were planning on inviting his mom and his wife's mom to join them on the holiday (we are all going for three weeks). They explained that their mom's (who we don't know) would go out for the day together whilst everyone was at our wedding. This was totally fine with us, it's their holiday too, so great, everything's fine. :) However, when we came to book our flights in January, Best Man's mom decided she wasn't coming after all so it would just be his wifes mom joining them and she would stay at the villa for the day whilst everyone was at the wedding. Now, as you can imagine, we felt really bad for BMs wife's mom being all alone so we said, even though we don't know her, she was welcome to join us at the wedding. So we all booked our flights and that was that.....
Now, the other day DF comes home and tells me BMs mom has changed her mind and IS now coming to Florida with them..... I'm sure you can guess what comes next...."Can she come to the wedding too?" We've really felt like we're between a rock and a hard place, one mom is now coming to the wedding so we can hardly leave the other one out. The biggest gripe I have is the fact that I don't know either of these people, they could literally walk into the room now and I wouldn't know who they are. It kind of feels like we've been backed into a corner. Uggghh, I really don't want to sound like i'm being awful but, as I explained earlier, when BM originally told us that the two moms were joining them on holiday, they said they completely understood that we didn't know them and that there was no expectation that they would be invitied to the wedding. I just feel a bit upset that I have friends and family that won't be at the wedding, yet I now have two strangers coming. I think the fact that it just feels like it's all been assumed that it's ok has upset me too. We decided on a wedding abroad to avoid all of this drama and it's happened anyway. :sad1:
I'm sorry to vent, I really don't want to sound awful. I can't leave her out, that would make me feel really bad, but I can't help but feel upset about this. Am I wrong to feel a little bit upset about it all?
Thanks for reading and letting me get this off my chest xxx

Hi Natalie, sorry to hear you've had to go through something like this. I agree with the other brides that the best way forward is to talk to them. I don't think you're being selfish or unreasonable etc it's your wedding. I wouldn't want strangers at my wedding - especially when so much planning and care has gone into avoiding that.

The two mothers in question should understand. Hope you resolve the situation. x

Thanks  I think we're definately gonna have to talk to them about it. It's been a bit of a tough dilemma!

Aaaaarggh, after hearing about all of these MK Shoot cancellations it's all I can think about! It's something that meant so much to us and to have it taken away is really heartbreaking. I haven't had an email from them yet, but I'm bracing myself for the worst after hearing about other Brides. I'm almost too scared to email them myself to ask the question because I know what the answer is likely to be. :sad2:

On the plus side, our room block situation has eased and they have lowered our room nights :)

I promise to post some more positive updates soon, feel like all I've done is moan the last couple of days! Sorry about that! Thanks to everyone for your advice about the 'extra guests' situation, really appreciate it! :goodvibes

Sorry to hear that you're so stressed! I know what you mean about emailing them; sometimes when my planner's name pops up in my inbox, my heart races (not in a good way). I'm sure we're not supposed to be so anxious! At least you got the room block sorted out. Let's hope it's the start of a string of GOOD news!:thumbsup2

Thanks Michelle! I was quite pleasantly surprised at how unstressed (is that a word?! Lol) I'd been up until recently. Guess it caught up with me, lol. Anyway, enough of my moaning, things could always be worse, here's to being positive. :thumbsup2

Hi everyone! Hope everyone enjoyed the Royal Wedding? It was wedding fever here in England! I thought it was all so lovely and Kate looked beautiful. Kate's dress actually led to me having a few wobbles/doubts about my dress! Phil made a comment about how nice he thought it was and I just thought "Aaaaah, my dress is nothing like that!! Is that what he is expecting?!" I tried it on again in the shop yesterday and was happy to discover I still love it, thank goodness....I'm just hoping Phil will too! :lovestruc

I really must update more often. Soooooo busy at work lately! Anyhoo, still haven't had anything confirmed with regards to these MK shoot cancellations so feel a bit in limbo about it. I have hair and makeup booked for the day, but do I cancel, do I hang on for a while? From what i've heard from other brides the cancellations seem pretty certain but i'm yet to hear anything definate from Disney yet. Oh well, i've decided that if the worst happens and it is cancelled I'm going to try and arrange for a different park shoot, thinking Hollywood Studios (BTW I STILL call that place MGM, have to keep correcting myself even though it's been changed for years!), so then we still get the great experience of a park shoot during our wedding trip, and then hopefully schedule an MK shoot for when we return for our anniversary. That way it will be something amazing to look forward too and another reason to get in the dress again! :)

And now for some happy news....We have added a fireworks cruise to our wedding day! Am so excited about this! We will get to see Hallowishes, which I have not seen before so that should be great! :woohoo: We are still having the DP at Sago Cay, but we will have it before the fireworks (unconventional, I know) and follow it with a cruise during the show!!!!!!!!! So excited!! :cheer2: We were going back and forth between the two and they we thought, what the heck, let's do both!

The 'extra' guests situation is still unresolved, infact just seems to be getting more and more awkward! But i'm trying to not let that get me down.

Think that's everything for now....Hope to update again soon!

Love Nat xxx :)

Aww that's so exciting about the fireworks cruise! I think it will be nice to have the DP then the cruise... kinda like the fireworks are the grand finale, you know?

What is causing all the MK shoot cancellations? I haven't been on the boards much lately, as we're in the middle of a big move, so maybe I missed something.

I thought Kate was absolutely stunning, a truly beautiful and elegant lady. She had me questioning my look too, but I could never pull that off the way she did! Just gorgeous.

P.S.--- I refuse to call it Hollywood Studios! It will always be MGM to me!

MY MK shoot got pushed back from November 7th to the 10th....Karen was very apologetic but she is working with the parks and if they tell her to move it she has too...I am SO hoping they do not move mine any further or we will not be able to have our shoot as we leave the 11th!!!

Sorry you are having some "wedding drama"...we all go through it and you will have it all work out in the end!!!

Natalie, maybe since they haven't contacted you about the MK shoot cancellations, you're safe! If not, the Studios is a great alternative -- I've seen some beautiful photos there.

And I'm jealous that you've got a fireworks cruise scheduled! I really wanted to do one, but it's just not in the budget. I hope you guys have a wonderful time and get a great view of the fireworks!! :)

I have seen some amazingly beautiful EPCOT and DHS photos from the shoots, so if that is what you decide to do, I am sure they will turn out great. But I hope that you get your MK shoot if that is what you have your heart set on!!

I am also glad to hear about the fireworks cruise!! I have done one before, and it was one of the best Disney moments I have ever had!! DH and I saw hallowishes for the first time last year on our honeymoon, and we really enjoyed it, so your cruise is going to be amazing!

Ooh how exciting! DP and a firework cruise. That really will be magical, especially as Hallowishes is new to you. I think you'll love it, they really pull out all the stops with special event fireworks :goodvibes

I had to watch highlights of the Royal Wedding because I was at work and I have to say it was worth waiting for! I absoultely LOVED Kates dress.

Fingers crossed for your MK shoot, it must be a horrible feeling being in limbo like that. As the other posters have said HS (DF still calls it MGM and I had no idea what he was going on about, I never went when it was MGM, lol) & Epcot shoots could be worthy shoots to do instead. I've seen some brilliant pics from HS.

Oooh! DP & fireworks cruise! Sounds exciting... and very romantic. :lovestruc

Hope you resolve the 'extra guest' issue soon, take care xx

Hi Michelle. MK Management have cancelled loads of shoots during the whole time we are there :sad2:
I'm so excited abot the fireworks cruise!!! Should be great end to a great day! :) P.S: Glad I'm not the only one who still calls it MGM! :)

Sorry to hear your shoot got moved! It's such a shame about it all. So many couples must be so disappointed. Hope it all works out for you. :goodvibes

Hi Amy! I'm not holding my breath about the shoot, bracing myself for disappointment :sad2: Hopefully the studios will be a good alternative.
Am very happy about the cruise, fingers crossed we get some great photos that night! :)

Hi Ruth, thanks for your wishes. I just wish I knew about the MK Shoot, one way or another, although I know I'll be really disappointed if it is cancelled :sad2:
Yes, am super excited about the DP and cruise!! :)
