Natalie & Phil's Oct 25th Wishes Wedding TR: Vendor reviews at last!! :)

Those shoes are so pretty! I love rhinestones a lot and if your dress has the "bling" on it, they will look so amazing with it.

Hi Natalie,

Woe I love your shoes. Infact i think i love them more than my own! Might have to buy them as a second pair (just incase!).

I really love all your latest updates and you STD's. Can't believe how quickly time is whizzing along. We are so close no aren't we.

Seeing as I'm stuck at home now for a few weeks I should be able to get most of my planning organised. Looking forward to more of your updates x

Thanks Claire! :thumbsup2 will have more updates soon I promise! Hope you're feeling a bit better.

Thanks! My dress has sparkle detail on the waist so they should look just right together :goodvibes

Hi everyone, sorry for being a bad bride and not updating much of late. I just don't know where the time seems to go!?! :worship:

Anyway, I have my phone planning session this afternoon!! I'm really excited, but in all honesty, I'm actually quite nervous! Don't know why, think it's because I'm just a born worrier! I will be speaking with florist straight after I speak with my planner. I WISH we had been able to go over to the US for a planning session but it just wasn't possible. I posted a thread earlier this week about the floral planners as my florist got switched from Warren to Elizabeth (wasn't told why) but I was thrilled with the wonderful responses about Elizabeth!! Really looking forward to speaking with her.

I've also been having a few other worries lately...The room block... :scared1:
Man, I swear the room block is only thing that is stressing me out when it comes to the wedding (and coming from me, who worries about EVERYTHING, that's saying something!). We only have 10 nights blocked (I know, not much right?) but 4 of the people who were using 4 of those 10 nights have dropped out of coming to the wedding. My friend is going to stay for 3 nights, Phil and I will be staying for 2 nights and my parents will be staying for 2 nights - which means we have filled just 7 nights. My parents have reservations on I-Drive the day after wedding so they can't stay any longer, we also have plans to go elsewhere the day after the wedding and my friend flies home the day after the wedding! So we are a bit stuck. Phil's family and best man's family refuse to stay on site, they prefer to stay in a villa. Do think I will be able to get our room nights lowered? Another downside to losing a few guests is that we are down to 18 now and we reserved the Marina for a DP, which is for a minimum of 20 guests!.......and rant over. Sorry if I sound whiny, I understand it is a long way for people to travel for a wedding and it isn't their fault, I just wanted to get my worries off my chest. At least we only have 10 nights and not 25 like it used to be! Can you imagine how much I would worry over that, if i'm stressing over 10? I think all this room block stuff is what is making me nervous about my planning session.

Anyway, I will post up later about how both phone calls go with my planner and florist. Thanks for reading, hope I haven't sent you all to sleep with my worries :flower3:

Hi!

Just caught up on all the plans - your save the dates and colour scheme is gorgeous!

I know what you mean about not having a F2F session, it's not too bad for us as an escape couple, but I'm sure with all your planning yours will go smoothly especially with your new florist being so responsive :)

Thank you so much for your kind words :goodvibes I'll be sure to wander over to your PJ.

Yeah, would've been lovely to go over for the planning session, but fingers crossed for the phone call today :)

Ah try not to worry too much. The planners deal with your issues every day and I am sure they will come up with some solutions for you.

I'm sending you a big hug to stop you worrying so much.

I'm sure your planning session will be fine, that being said I'd worry aswell because like you I'm a born worrier.

I don't think you slound whiny, you sound like a bride who wants everything to go smoothly and thats totally understandable.

Can't wait to see how your planning session and florist goes :goodvibes

I was just following along. If it helps at all, we were really concerned about our room block at first too. I called my planner a month or two after our planning session and asked if we could cut back the rooms in the contract and the were COMPLETELY fine with it! I would ask your planner if you are nervous about filling it. In all honesty, unless you are getting married during a really busy time for Disney, the room block is only good for ensuring your guests have a room at the resort. The rooms are not even guaranteed to be near each other whether you have a room block or not. If it's not that busy a season, there is really very little point. Hope that puts your mind at ease a bit. Can't wait to hear how the planning session went!

I felt exactly the same way about our PS! I so wish we had been able to go over rather than do it over the phone...our call with our floral planner lasted baout 10mins and we ended up doing it all via email in the end!! :rotfl: It worked out in the end though as everything we had looked amazing!

I didnt do a room block (which I'm very glad of now!) but I can imagine it being quite stressful! We booked 2 nights accom for everyone with DVC points so it was something we were never even asked about!

I hope your PS went well! Cant wait to hear about it!

Thanks Claire! I'm a real worrier and so far i've been pretty chilled about all the wedding stuff so i've not been too bad  Thanks for your support :)

*hugs*
Everyone will work out!!
Let us know how the planning session goes!!!!

Thanks! It went really well and I'm feeling much better. :)

Thanks, glad i'm not the only worrier! I'll post up more about the planning session shortly.

Thank you. The room block is probably the most confusing part about the wedding planning. It's the whole getting charged for the rooms you don't fill bit that scares me! Thanks for posting :)

Thanks Kat, it would've been lovely to do it all in person but nevermind. I've sent loads of inspiration over to them (probably too much! :rotfl:) so I'm sure it all be great.

I don't really know anything about DVC or renting points, is it quite straighforward? I've been wondering if we get discounts with AP vouchers we've received? :confused3

Thanks for posting. I'm going to post abit more about the Planning session soon. :)

So, as you probably know, we had our planning session over the phone yesterday afternoon and me being the silly worrier that I am was a bit nervous about it all.....Well I had absolutely no reason to be, Meri was so lovely and friendly and really put me at ease straight away. We went through the whole day from start to finish and I feel much better about how the day will be flowing now.

We talked about food (we're made a custom buffet). We decided on a Beef carving station, Chicken with applewood bacon, a pasta station, a salad station, vegetable medley, cheddar cheese shredded potato gratin and Le Cellier Cheddar Cheese soup. (I'm feeling really hungry all of a sudden.....)

We will also have some food at our pre reception: we have decided on the Fresh Fruit display and we've added the Cheese Display also. Our Cake will be two tiers, one tier will be Chocolate Cake with Raspberry mousse and the other will be Yellow Cake with Chocolate Mousse (still not sure about that bit though...)

We did discuss the DP but i'm a bit unsure about the things we decided on....I actually think we may have TOO MUCH chocolate (yes, I really said that). We've already got chocolate cake after our meal then for the DP we've got Chocolate strawberries (a must!), Chocolate Brownies (Phil's request!), Cookies, Cupcakes and Ice Cream and maybe rice crispie treats. I had my heart set on a chocolate fountain/fondue but apparently they don't offer them for outdoor events incase bugs fly into it! What do you think about the DP? Any suggestions/recommendations?

We have also moved the DP to Sago Cay instead of the Marina due to the guest count dropping. I'm happy with this as I think our small group may have felt a bit 'lost' as the Marina is pretty big and Sago Cay is literally round the corner and will probably feel a bit more intimate.

So, I spoke with Elizabeth, our florist next. She was also really really nice, we spoke for about 20 mins and went through every part of day and decor. I'd sent lots of inspiration over to her the week before so it was all pretty straight forward and she had lots of great ideas. Our signature flower for our wedding is the Gerbera Daisies. I love Gerbera's as they are so happy and fun and I was really blown away by Wendy's (WeeDee) wedding using them. (Thanks Wendy!)

So that about covers it I think. Meri put my mind at ease a little abit about the room block and told me not to keep worrying over it all as we would sort something, which was really nice of her. It would've been amazing to go over and meet them both and do the whole food tasting etc but I'm still really happy with how it all went. I've spoken with them both since via email about a couple of things we discussed already so they are both super quick to get back to me about things. So big thumbs to Meri and Elizabeth so far :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Thanks everyone for reading, Nat x

I'm really excited to hear that you liked Meri-- we have our planning session with her the first week of June. I don't know much about dessert parties, but I have to say, I have never walked into a party and said "There is too much chocolate in here!". Now I'm craving sweets!

Hi Michelle, you'll have a great time with Meri, she was really friendly. Are you doing it in person or via phone?

I know, never thought I'd say too much chocolate either! :rotfl: hmmmmm, now I'm hungry too!

In person. We're moving to Florida next month, so it's an easy trip for us! I can't wait to taste the cakes. I've been indecisive about what flavors I want, but chocolate with raspberry mousse sounds delicious! I may have to copy :rolleyes1

If Meri is complaining about some wacky bride whose wedding is close, that'd probably be me! My wedding is on the 11th and I've been emailing her so much!

Wow your food choices have made me hungry! I think the cake flavours sound lovely and I love your decision to make gerberas your focal flower. They're so very happy and sunny looking.

Ooh lucky you! I would love to live in Florida! If you try it let me know how the chocolate and raspberry tastes! :)

Thanks Claire! Wasn't sure what filling to put with the yellow cake so I went with chocolate (there's a surprise! I'm hoping the food turns out well. Makes me hungry everytime we talk about it! :)

Hi everyone, i'm in a bit of a dilemma and I really could do with some advice/opinions please.
Basically, when we were all beginning to look at flights late last year, DFs Best Man informed us that they were planning on inviting his mom and his wife's mom to join them on the holiday (we are all going for three weeks). They explained that their mom's (who we don't know) would go out for the day together whilst everyone was at our wedding. This was totally fine with us, it's their holiday too, so great, everything's fine. :) However, when we came to book our flights in January, Best Man's mom decided she wasn't coming after all so it would just be his wifes mom joining them and she would stay at the villa for the day whilst everyone was at the wedding. Now, as you can imagine, we felt really bad for BMs wife's mom being all alone so we said, even though we don't know her, she was welcome to join us at the wedding. So we all booked our flights and that was that.....
Now, the other day DF comes home and tells me BMs mom has changed her mind and IS now coming to Florida with them..... I'm sure you can guess what comes next...."Can she come to the wedding too?" We've really felt like we're between a rock and a hard place, one mom is now coming to the wedding so we can hardly leave the other one out. The biggest gripe I have is the fact that I don't know either of these people, they could literally walk into the room now and I wouldn't know who they are. It kind of feels like we've been backed into a corner. Uggghh, I really don't want to sound like i'm being awful but, as I explained earlier, when BM originally told us that the two moms were joining them on holiday, they said they completely understood that we didn't know them and that there was no expectation that they would be invitied to the wedding. I just feel a bit upset that I have friends and family that won't be at the wedding, yet I now have two strangers coming. I think the fact that it just feels like it's all been assumed that it's ok has upset me too. We decided on a wedding abroad to avoid all of this drama and it's happened anyway. :sad1:
I'm sorry to vent, I really don't want to sound awful. I can't leave her out, that would make me feel really bad, but I can't help but feel upset about this. Am I wrong to feel a little bit upset about it all?
Thanks for reading and letting me get this off my chest xxx

I would talk to the BM and let him know that since both mothers are coming that it might be best that they both find something fun for them to do. I would definitly not want them to be at my wedding if I didn't know them. I think it's very nice of you to invite them, but you are not obligated to have them there. I can understand one coming to not let her feel left out but if she's got another mom coming and they can go and do something while the wedding is going on then they should, and they shouldn't even feel like they NEED to be invited just because their son and daughter are attending the wedding.

I don't think your wrong for being upset about it, but I don't think you need to still invite them to your wedding, not that an uninvited is the way to say it but the BM should be able to just tell him mother and mother in law that since they will both have each other they will have to find something else to do.
