Hi!

My family will be on the Wonder on 5/1/05 for 4days. Just needing advise on what to do while in Nassau with 2 smaller children. Tour and shop the island then back to the ship or book a room at Atlantis? :cool1:

We need ideas too. DD6 and DS3. We were thinking of the Blue Lagoon Excursion. Thanks!! :earsboy: :earsgirl: princess: :wizard:

There are so many questions about Nassau, it seems there should be a whole thread for it! We were just there for a week in November, and with kids your age, I would advise against the expense of booking an Atlantis day room. There's not that much for them, and they are too little for any of the slides. For minimal cost and time/difficulty, you could grab a #10 bus for $1 pp at the port (they run up and down Bay Street all day) and tell them you want to go to Ardastra Gardens and Zoo. It's a 5 minute ride from port, but bring a stroller because it's a ten minute walk up through a residential area. It's a nice way to spend an hour or two with kids that age - my three loved it!
You'll have a hard time keeping them happy through the straw market and shopping, because the stores are tiny and hard to manuever, and the straw market is okay, but I wouldn't spend too much time there (I did get a really nice straw hat though!).
That way you'd be back on board after a few hours and still feel like you got a good feel for the real Nassau without too much time and expense. :sunny: Have fun! Melissa

I agree with the suggestion of Ardastra Gardens. We went there on our trip to Nassau in October of 2003. We had a really good time and got some great pictures. I think our cab driver charge us like $3 per person for the ride there. Here is their web-site http://www.ardastra.com/about.html

Never thought about looking into the gardens and zoo. Thanks for the suggestion. Can you tell me if there is plenty for the kids to look at?

Thanks again!

I think there would be a lot for them to see.....there was an area where you could feed goats...which was fun! There was a show of marching flamingos. The nice thing was you could get pretty close to all the animals. When we visited there was a group of school age children from Nassau on a field trip...they were having a great time! :)
