Can you all tell me about the VIP shopping card you get at the Nassau port shopping presentation. Do the discounts get you anything good of your purchase? Any of the free items from the stores worth getting? Do they really push you to buy something to get those free items?

Personally, I have never gone to any of the presentations and have left the free gifts behind if I somehow got handed one. It is more of a benefit for the shopping guides if you go to the stores for the "discount" that they endorse. There are lots of stores in Nassau that are not promoted but are still there.
Further, the shopping guides are not DCL employees if I am not mistaken and so my trust factor is minimal.

I think the only free gift of any value is if Del Sol offers a free bag, and that's only if you need a small shopping bag. The "charm bracelet" is cheap and ugly.

I think you can find some good values on watches and jewelry in Nassau, but only if you are experienced and know what to look for.

I like going to the port shopping talks because they are amusing and a thing to do, but... The places listed aren’t always the best, and they might not have the best prices. The charm bracelet from DI is junk. The glass stones from EFFY is good for little kids. Etc.

If you have no other plans, it can be something to do, it can be a way to explore the main shopping districts.

And I’ll tell you that we have purchased at Tanzanite International in Sint Maarten. On Royal they had an offer for some earrings or necklace and then you could upgrade the earrings. Dh did that. And it’s nice. But also kinda junky. And everyone on the cruise knows exactly where you got it and how much you paid for it so don’t wear it on the cruise lol.

If you want jewelry, I would go to the ports of call section on cruise critic message boards and do some reading for fave jewelry store in Nassau. And know what you’re looking for. And know what the prices at home are.

I knew what I wanted, but that's not what they showed me. I ended up (high pressure!!!) buying a beautiful ring. It has value, but I paid more for it than it's worth. When I had it appraised at home, it was worth, in Canadian, what I paid in American, so their "no duty" jewellery ended up being a nice 30% mark up for me. That was on Tortola at Diamonds International. But yeah, I got a pair of tanzanite earrings that I had to chase after, even after spending a lot of money. Anyway, I'm now of the opinion that the "shopping expert" is a high-pressure scam... but I still wear the ring. It is nice, after all, just not worth what I paid.
