Nassau excursions

We are going back to Nassau to the Blue Lagoon. Some in our group our doing the Sea Lions again, some observing, but we just love that island paradise. Conch fritters, dolphin smiles, sea lion kisses, hammocks, floating water park, here I come in 10 weeks!

I'm in the camp that says you should always get off the ship the first time you visit any port, just to say you've actually "been there." Our first time in Nassau, we went to Atlantis and did the Deep Water Swim with the Dolphins. It was alot of fun, but VERY expensive (for us). Now we can check that off our bucket list. ::yes:: That said, next time we cruise to the Bahamas, we'll probably get off the ship and walk through the straw market and then get back on the ship. :goodvibes

Subscribing - thanks everyone. Have not decided if we will stay on the ship or get off.

I also like to try every port at least once. We have been to Paradise Island before but it was a long time ago. Will check with our friends.

I looked at the description of the Forts and Junkanoo excursion, and have a couple of questions.

At the fort with the drawbridge (Fort Newcastle, maybe), were you able to get out and walk around at this fort? The description doesn't say one way or the other. Fort Fincastle does sound like you are able to get out. Is that correct? Also, about how much time are you given to explore the fort?

The Junkanoo exhibit....is that something we could get to on our own by walking from the ship? It sounds like it might be in the region of Fort Fincastle, and I believe we would be able to safely walk to the fort. Or am I wrong on that? Is there somewhere I could look to find out more info on this exhibit?

For those of you who have taken this tour, what are your thoughts? This will be our first port adventure. We want to get a flavor of Nassau, but do it safely, and without much of an added expense.

If we took the tour, and opted to get off at the Straw Market, would we be able to then walk to the Pirate Museum?

I'm hoping to get some opinions and helpful advice on this. I really need your help.

Thanks.

We are going on our first cruise in June and are wanting to do a Dolphin excursion.... trying to decide between Atlantis and Blue Lagoon. Some want to do the deep water swim at Atlantis, but not all of the kids are old enough. Considering the Blue Lagoon Swim instead, but not all want to do the foot push. Does anyone know if they make you do the foot push or can you do the rest of the activities with the Dolphins and opt out of the push? Any help would be appreciated.
