This will be our first cruise and I was wondering if anyone ever just spends most of the day on the ship the day it docks in Nassau. Other than a little shopping and a little sightseeing I think my family would be happier staying onboard for the day. Will the kids clubs still be operating that day? Also, how long of a walk from the ship to the straw market or do you have to catch a taxi or find other transportation there. Thanks for your help!

Me and my family liked the Nassau. We left my brother who is 7 on the ship but we went to the ancient stuff like the queen's staircase and the fort. The straw market was cool, but seemed like no matter were u went people were trying to get u to buy this really ugly thing. THat is jsut my opionion though.

We loved nassau. The people are wonderful, the street vendors didn't bother us much at all. Straw market is very close to dock, easy, walking distance.

We didn't get off the ship at all in Nassau on our last cruise. We had a late breakfast and spent the day enjoying the pool and the hot tub (it was spectacular weather) while most people were ashore. We're not people who buy tons of souvenirs, and we've been to the Straw Market several times, so just decided to skip it this trip.

In November, since we'll be visiting Nassau twice, we'll probably get off the ship once and stay on once!

BethC1952: How empty was the ship when you stayed on? I was also thinking of staying with DD while DH & sons went snorkeling. I thought the kids pool area should be pretty empty ??

Thanks,
Cheryl

I can't tell you about the kids pool--we left our kid (and his wife and daughter) home this time. I can tell you that, for quite a while, we were the only people at the adult pool, and that the buffet at Beach Blanket was not crowded at all.
