Nassau Casino and Beach OTHER than Atlantis

My DH is wanting to go to a casino while in Nassau. Last time we went to Atlantis and he played in the casino while the rest of us played on the beach. Does anyone know an alternative? I'd like a place that we could go to by taxi... maybe get a dayrate or have access to the pools and beach while he has a casino. Surely Atlantis isn't the only game in town. Thanks in advance if anyone has a suggestion. :teeth:

We also wanted to go somewhere different on our last cruise and took the suggestions of others on these boards. Try the Wyndham Cable Beach Resort. You can take Bus 10 from in front of the Hagan Daz Ice Cream Shoppe. A very nice police officer told us where it was and assured us that it was safe. It is a short walk from port and very convenient. It only costs $1.00 per person. I'm guessing it's about a 10-15 minute ride. DH can gamble while the rest of you use the beach for FREE! We didn't swim but walked around and it looked really nice. We would definitely do this again. You can take a taxi if you want but the bus really worked great for us. This is one of the best tips I've gotten from these boards. Enjoy! (If I'm not mistaken, I think you can also use their pool. Maybe someone else can confirm this or you can do a search for more info.)

Yes, you can use the pool and you don't need wristbands. The casino is actually nicer at the Wyndham. The pool has a swim up bar and water slide and the beach has free beach chairs. They offer motorized water sports for a fee and there are many restaurants. It's a great way to spend the day and it's CHEAP!

Can you guys tell me if the had jet skis for rent we went to the atlantis last year and the boys rented jet skis this year we would like to stay on the ship I don't want to pay for an all day for them just to ride jet skis for 1 hr. thanks for you help LS 10 days to GO!!!!

They had jetskis at Cable Beach. They aren't ALWAYS there, but they WILL pull up at some point. By the way, Cable Beach is free, why would you stay on the ship?

Hi Rachel I booked spa apps for that day( My birthday) and last year my gang said they missed fun stuff on the ship this time we are going to stay on We are group of 20 this year :grouphug: I talked 3 other families into going but they only wanted to do a 4 day the guys want to jet ski. some of our party will be going to the Atlantis but my guys don't want to stay on the beach all day. Cable beach sounds just right maybe my guys will hit it right they just drive up and rent them out ? they had a complete setup at the Atlantis table and everything :rotfl2: Cash only MAN :rotfl2: Thanks for all the info DOCS TODAY we are doing the dance now!!!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: Thanks you all have been very helpful. Sailing on June 19

I just read the postings aloud to DH and he said it sounds great. Thank you. It sounds like a excellent alternative. I'm surprised we can use the pools for free. My DD will love that. Sounds nice.

I think we've got a good option via your suggestion. Any other hotels we should consider?

Just wanted to say we were back and took your suggestion. We went to Wyndam Cable Beach Resort and it was AWESOME!!!!!!!! We highly recommend!!!!

It ended up being the highlight of the entire vacation. It only cost 3 dollars to get there via the bus.

The casino was great per my DH. (I didn't go in) but he won $1,100!!!!!!!! :cool1:

DD and I LOVED the fantastic pool and super water slide. The beach area was breathtaking. We enjoyed the excursion and facilities even more than the Antigua resort we visited last year on our previous Disney Cruise.

We took a taxi back and it was like 12 dollars if I recall?

We have done Atlantis twice and were looking for something different. We had the best time! The pool and beach were not crowded at all. It was fairly empty. Everyone was so friendly. The whole excursion cost us 15 dollars. Not to mention DH won all that money.

THANK YOU for the great suggestion. It even was a better experience for us then Castaway Cay.

oh wow! thanks for the update... do you have any photos you can share? i thought the atlantis casino was awful

We took some great pics. I'm not sure how to post pics though. Maybe I can figure it out.

He won at craps. I was a happy girl when he started throwing 100 dollar bills at me when we got back to the cabin. He kept it a surprise until we got back and just kept taking one after another out of his wallet until he had taken out 11

PS DisneyPrincess. Our precious son is named Nathaniel as well. You have excellent taste in names.

Thanks about my son's name! We normally call him nateNate!

And your DH sounds just like mine, mine would like to keep his winnings a secret to and surprise me! The only problem is , since he did it to me once, I expect
it everytime now, and then if it doesn't happen (more often that not) I am disappointed! LOL

We have booked a cruise for March 06. We've never been on one before and were thinking of getting a day room or renting a room at comfort inn and going to Atlantis for the day. Is Wyndham better than Atlantis - which would you recommend for someone who is going for their first time? Thanks!

Julie

TexasGirl,

I would LOVE to hear more details about your trip to the Wyndam. I can't imagine that it's really free! (However, I suppose that since it has a casino, providing a free pool and beach is an extra way to get gamblers through their doors!) Did you just walk right in through the lobby and out to the pool/beach? Did you eat at the restaurant? In your opinion, would it be appropriate for kids ages 4 and 8? And I would like to hear any others do/don'ts from you!

Reading your thread has shed a completely new light on Nassau for us. Up until tonight I was considering just staying on the ship.

Thanks! :flower:

I am also interested in more info about Wyndham. We were wanting to get a room at the Comfort Suites to be able to use Atlantis, but with 6 of us and only 4 wristbands per room ~ it was going to get pretty expensive.

These boards are just full of great info!!! :flower:

Thanks for posting the update, TexasGirl. Glad you had such a great time! Congrats to your DH on his winnings!

TexasGirl,

Don't feel compelled to answer my questions now! I just did a forum search for "Cable Beach," and found a lot of really good info that answered all my questions. We'll have to consider everything because we're cruising in January, and people said that even in April the ocean water and pool water were freezing!

Again, thanks for posting about your great day there! Now, if only my DH could win like yours--then I wouldn't mind the cold water!

K.
