We leave in about 3 weeks for our first drive to Disney World. We will be leaving after work and I would like to get south of Nashville before we stop for the night. Can anyone recommend a nice area to stop, or even a hotel you have stayed at before? We would like to keep our hotel stops at less than $100/night. Thanks

Once you are out of Nashville (and Brentwood/Franklin, which all run together), there's not a whole lot right on the interstate until you get into North Alabama. There is an exit, however, about 45 minutes south of downtown Nashville where there is a Hampton Inn, Cracker Barrel, Burger King, etc... I think it is exit 46, but it might be 48.

If you wanted other options, staying in Franklin, which would be north of the hotel mentioned above, would be your best bet. I would guess the hotels in Franklin would be more than the one above, but you would have many options.

If you wanted to go even further south, I would suggest Athens, Alabama. It is a couple hours south of Nashville, and there will be lots of choices there.

Best wishes!

I forgot to mention we will be taking I-24 out of Nashville towards Chattanooga.

Oops! I should have realized that! You will have a lot more options going down 24. Chattanooga is about 2 hours south of Nashville. If you want to stop between Nashville and Chattanooga, your best bets are Murfreesboro (just south of Nashville) or Manchester (about 45 minutes south of Nashville). Manchester would be cheaper, and there are several hotels and food options. There are also hotels just before you get into Chattanooga near Lookout Mountain. I have stayed at a Hampton Inn there before, but it has been a few years. This is the one where I stayed.

Again, Manchester will probably be the cheapest--it just depends how far down the interstate you want to go.

ETA: In all these places, you will find national chains and mom and pop places. We always stay with Hilton brands b/c my husband has points with them, but if you search for Hampton Inns or the equivalent in other brands, you should be able to find a nice place that is around $100, probably even less in Manchester. As a matter of fact, this Hampton in Manchester is around $80, and you get hot breakfast!
