We are travelling from Indiana to Orlando next Friday the 6th. We're stopping for the night just south of Nashville...we'd be willing to push to Murfeesboro.

I'm having a difficult time sorting through all of the Nashville hotels to find some located on I-24 south of Nashville. I've tried Priceline, but they turned me down!

Questions:
1. Are there any big events going on in Nashville next weekend?

2. If not, do you think we'd be OK to wait until we're there to find a place to stay?

3. Can you recommend anywhere, or more importantly, are there any places we should stay away from?

4. What's a reasonable discounted rate for a HI Express, Hampton, Comfort Inn, etc.?

THANKS. Carmen

There is a huge event called Fan Fare going on June 5-8. That is probably why you can't get a hotel. I'm not real into country music, but I know the city will be packed that weekend. Murfreesboro would be a better choice, and I would think you could get something pretty easily there, but I definitely wouldn't try Nashville. Sorry I can't tell you any specific hotels right off I-24. I am pretty sur there is a Holiday Inn in Murfreesboro off 24, but I can't be sure. You might go to the Holiday Inn website to see. Hope that helps a little.

Murfreesboro or Manchester would be a much better choice. Fan Fair many have hotels in Murfreesboro tied up too since it's about 22 miles or so down the road from Nashville. On an different note, if you do have the chance to stop in Nashville for a bite to eat and a little shopping. May I suggest a stop off at the Opry Mills Mall? The AMS Outlet aka the Disney Outlet and Rainforest Cafe are close to each other in the mall. It was worth a look when we were up there last weekend. Mickey

We live in Murfreesboro. There is a Baymont Inn (615) 890-1625, Best Western 895-3818, Hampton Inn (615) 896-1172, Holiday Inn 800 465-4329, Howard Johnson, Imperial Inn, Knights Inn, Ramada Limited 896-5080, Shoney's Inn 896-6030. This should give you a start. Good luck.

While we are on the topic of Nashville/Murfreesboro, can some please tell me how far Murfreesboro is from the Nashville airport? And could you please give us directions? We are flying into Nashville for a Drum Corp show in Murfreesboro in July.

Thanks.

Murfreesboro is around 45 miles from the airport. To get to Murfreesboro from the airport take I-40W (Nashville) to I-24 (Chattanooga). I-24 will take you straight to Murfreesboro.

Is there anything going on in Nashville next weekend? Your question made me LOL.

Try the numbers listed above. Let us know if you can't get anything.

By the way, the highways in Nashville are terrible. You'll have to change lanes several times as the roads split and split. Follow the signs to Chattanooga. Try to arrive past 6pm. The traffic isn't really bad like Atlanta -- but every bit helps.
