Corey!!! Nashville isn't the dangerous city in TN. That's Memphis. That's why you see Memphis on all those "The First 48 type shows." Nashville is fine. Adventures by Disney Nashville all you want!

I was waiting for you to post about this. :)

I almost did a post myself but then remembered you'd have better information.

From what I found, Nashville and Orlando have about the same violent crime rates, close enough that they alternate from year to year on which is higher. I've wandered all over downtown Nashville and its suburbs without feeling unduly concerned. No more so than in any other large city.

Now driving, that's another story. ;)

I can't speak for Nashville, but Orlando gets a bad rap on all of the crime stats. Many of the good neighborhoods are outside of the city limits, but many of the bad ones are. Once you get out of the "traditional" city of Orlando (basically 2 miles or so radius of Lake Eola), much of the city proper isn't great... but that's the same in basically every city.

E.g. Dr Phillips, Winter Park, etc etc are all not part of Orlando.

That's a fair point. I wasn't sure of the exact geographic area. It cuts both ways. Nashville and the county (Davidson) have a single government. There are also some fairly affluent counties outside of Metro Nashville.

We are talking statistics. Like Mark Twain supposedly said, most people use statistics like a drunk uses a light post, more for support than illumination.

There was a list done from Forbes and no it was not the most dangerous, it was #7.

Memphis had the honour of being #1

I am writing this while having lunch outside at Mediterranean restaurant in sunny, 70 degree weather, which is located near a duck pond in Brentwood, TN which is a suburb of Nashville. Believe me, it really can't get much better when it comes to a relaxing lunch break. while Nashville probably suffers from the same problems of any growing large city, I would say that is a very nice place to live for both families and professionals. And, like any large city, there are places within the city that will experience more crime. Also, if anyone is familiar with southern hospitality...it still exists in Nashville, which isn't true for a lot of other large southern cities that have out-grown the southern charm...however, I agree traffic is pretty bad at times.

Night and day difference between the two IMO. Plenty of nice areas in Nashville and around. Memphis...if you aren't at the King's house, on the St. Jude's Campus or on Beale Street you could be in big trouble.

No better outdoor bar/dining scene in the country.
