So I have a very spoiled kid who loves filet mignon. I'm trying to pick a special dinner for him. We'll be there in December, so I'm leaning toward Narcoossee's because of the decorations at the GF, but the Yachtsman is tempting, too. Any advice? :confused3

Gotta go with Jiko...

my kiddo loves steak AND pasta, even for the kids meal they subbed the mac n cheese they do for the adults for the potatoes on the kids meal. The meat was very good. His dessert (the Fundu was super tasty too).

Loved sitting at the big booths at Jiko too, so comfy, and AKL is a cool resort.

We did eat at YS earlier in the week, the NY Strip was touted as the specialty of the house. It was very good. And they knew how to cook it.

We didn't eat steak at Narcoossee's, so I can't comment on that.

Yikes! This vote is not going the way I want it to! ;) I'm a lobster girl myself, so I was hoping Narcoossee's would win. :lmao: But, I'm going with the majority. I want to make sure my men get a good steak. :goodvibes

Yachtsman was an amazing dining experience for us and the filet just melted in my mouth!

I've had Filets at both and they were both amazing so I don't think you'd be disappointed either way. What tips the scale for me is that the service and the view at Narcoosee's far surpassed that of Yachtsman. At Christmas, you just can't beat the decor at the GF and the view of the castle lighting at night.

Narcoossee's and Yachtsman are two of my favorite restaurants at WDW; the filets are both very good. I never choose between the two of them, I go to both when I'm there. If I had to choose one over the other though it would be Narcoossee's by the closest of margins. The only reason I give the nod to Narcoossee's is it's view for the Electrical Water Pagent and the fireworks. Either choice I'm sure your men will be quit satisfied with their steak.

we were absolutely BLOWN away by the fillet at Portobellos in Downtown Disney. I tried to get my wedding reception at Yachtmans and Narcossees but they couldnt accommodate us so we ended up going with Portobellos and I was worried that this italian restaurant wouldnt have the greatest Filet Mignon, turns out to be THE BEST I ever had, my bro in law went the next day to eat it again. And the Tiramisu was to die for!

I really like Yachtsman, however, about two years ago we had dinner at both Yachtsman and Narcoossee's during the same trip. I had filet at YS and the Surf and Turf at Narcoossee's. I have to honestly say the filet I had at Narcoossee's was the better of the two filets that trip......it was excellent and that was even with a bad experience during that dinner. We had a new server (at least hopefully he was new because he was extremely nervous throughout the entire meal) who managed to spill an entire pot of pressed coffee all over our table......what a mess. I think every server in the place rushed over to help with the cleanup.....fortunately no one was burned, but, everyone's dessert had to be replaced and the table linens were a soggy mess and needed to be removed/replaced.

Ever since we went to Yachtsman last year, my husband has compared every other steak to theirs. I haven't tried Narcoosee's, but my husband is a picky eater, so if he raves about something, it has to be amazing.

If you wish to eat filet mignon then any of a number of restaurants offer truly exceptional steak. If you're looking for any other cuts (ribeye, strip, porterhouse, etc.) then Shula's is the only place on property to consider.

We are big steak fans ourselves. Yachtsman is a "must-do" for us every year. We have always had a great meal and the service is impeccable. We have eaten at Narcoosee's, and while the food was good, Yachtsman wins, hands down.

I'd certainly pick Yachtsman over Narcoossee's for steak. But if REALLY good steak is what you're after, then I agree with Pirate--Shula's is the place to go.

I selected other because my favourite is at Jiko. But we love Yachtmans too so that would be our second choice :thumbsup2

I know that I am in the minority on the DIS, but YSH is one of only two restaurants in all of WDW we will not return to. We have been 3 times and our food was just NOT GOOD. We found it to be over sauced, over spiced and we did not enjoy it. The setting is beautiful and the service was great, the food was not good.
I agree with others about Narcoosee's. If you go a bit later in the evening you will also be able to see the Electrical Water Pageant and the fireworks from the MK. A great meal and good entertainment wins my vote.

We did both in March and we loved both. Yachtsmans steak was amazingn you could cut it with a spoon!! But Narcossee's steak wasn't bad either and I had the best lobster. We got to watch Wishes during dessert that was so yummy I still have dreams of it!!!

So I would go with what will make you and DS happy. He can still get a decent filet at Narcossees and you can get lobster! Plus if you get a time where you can watch wishes its an added bonus!

My vote is for Shula's. Yachtman's was good too though. Didn't have the steak at Narcoossee's.

I used to LOVE THE YACHTSMAN STEAKHOUSE. But the last 2 times we went, it was not up to snuff. I like my steaks medium rare and even thought it was (after 3 tries), it was still charred/burned on the outside. Totally ruined the taste for me. Sides were just okay.

I'm allergic to shellfish, so while at Narcoose's I ordered a steak. Even though it's known for seafood. It was out of this world.

Jiko has a better filet than either. We just had one at the Yachtsman last month and it wasn't even close to as good as Jiko's.

Now that is only a matter of opinion (yours) and not a fact. I enjoyed my steak better at Narcoossee's than I did at Jiko, opinion (mine). :rotfl:
