I need the expert advice of my fellow Disers......:worship:

My DF and I are getting married next year and will be honeymooning at WDW. We are going to do the basic dining plan and I'm trying to decide on where we should plan to go for our "special honeymoon dinner" Narcoossee's or the Cali Grill. We've never been to either one. I know CG has the outdoor area for viewing the fireworks, which I think would be really nice :lovestruc . I don't really know anything about Narcoossee's so any help anyone can give me would really be appreciated.

Thanks! :thumbsup2

I have two words for you (well two words and an ampersand ;) ):

Victoria & Albert's.

Absolutely worth every out of pocket penny spent. Have a great honeymoon and congratulations!

Between the two places you mentioned, I would suggest Narcoosees: it also has a nice (but different) view of the castle/fireworks, but mostly because IME it is quieter, more relaxing than the CaliGrill, and therefore more romantic. But you really cannot go wrong with either place. FWIW.

I agree - CG is too loud to have a nice, romantic anniversary dinner , IMHO! I had my birthday dinner at Narcoosees with my DH and kids and we really enjoyed it! They personalized our menus and the food was great! If you are looking for an adult setting, I agree with the poster who suggested V&A! :)

California Grill -- better food than Narcoosee's (by far), but awful, awful ambience, very crowded, noisy and unpleasant with kids running all over and general insanity. Fireworks viewing is good. The place, IMO, is tolerable only very late after the fireworks are over and the fireworks gawkers are gone.

Narcoosess -- not as good as California Grill, but slightly better atmosphere. Still noisy, but no open kitchen, which helps a little. Again, not romantic. Fireworks viewing out on the deck surrounding the restaurant is good. Viewing from the window tables is not. Everyone else stands in front of the windows.

V&A -- Sublime . . . and the ultimate in romance, indulgence and attentive and non-obtrusive service.

I agree w/ Elizabeth!!
Are the two restaurants you mentioned simply because you want to see fireworks at dinner? IF so, they are the two best. If not, other spots may provide a bit more of a quiet/romantic setting.

Gee, I never really even considered V&A's. Something to think about....I think I'll go check on some info on V&A.

Thanks for the suggestion and the well wishes! :flower3:

Thank you!
We realize that we're in Disney and kids are everywhere but a nice quiet place would be relaxing....and romantic :lovestruc
I'm sure Cali Grill's outside deck is more of a draw for families wanting to view the fireworks.

Ok....that's 2 for Narcoosee's. The personalized menus sound nice. I was looking into that at the Living Seas restaurant for another dinner. Thanks for your help :)

Wow! Is CG really that bad?! :scared1: Like I said in a previous post, I realize kids are everwhere in WDW but WOW....that bad?

Hmmmmm....pretty much the concensus seems to be V&A's

We're not like we HAVE to see the fireworks at dinner...we just thought it might be something nice, plus we've never done that before, nor have we been to either of those 2 restaurants.....do you have any other places, other than the 3 mentioned above, that you would recommend?

I have to agree with thematson on this on, go pay oop for V&A. You won't be disappointed. It will be the most romantic of all meals. And tasty too!!!

We ate at both California Grill and Narcoosees last year on our honeymoon and of the two, we much preferred Cali Grill. The food was amazing and the service was absolutely flawless. We also loved the atmosphere and thought it was very romantic. Maybe we just got lucky, but we experienced none of the chaos and screaming children that other have mentioned. We didn't eat late, either. Our reservation was at 5:40 and Wishes was at 6. (There was a MVMCP that night.) We received the last window table and the view of the fireworks was amazing.

In contrast, our experience at Narcoosees was just OK. The food was decent, but not quite as good as I was expecting. The service was attentive, but not overly friendly. We also had a window table, but the view wasn't quite as good as at California Grill. Overall, not a bad place to eat, but we didn't feel it was worth the 2 TS credits.

Both restaurants are nice and great for a special honeymoon dinner, but we just preferred Cali Grill. Good luck with your decision! :goodvibes

I almost didn't open this thread because I read the options and thought "neither"

I'll have to agree with the others who say

Victoria & Albert's

It is SO worth the OOP expense and will be a meal that you'll remember forever. DH and I did it for our 10th anniversary and it was amazing!

Well folks, the majority of everyone thinks we should go to V&A's but I've got to say, I just went on a site and checked out the menu.....not really my cup of tea; I'm kind of a picky eater :confused3 I don't know if spending the money oop would be worth it for us. I'm sure DF would find something on there he enjoys but me....well, that's another story

I'm still, personally, leaning toward Cali Grill. I think I'd find alot more food on the menu I like to eat versus V&A's.

I totally understand where you are coming from.

DH wasn't too keen on V&A and was doing it mostly just for me. I remember vividly sitting outside waiting for them to open and him saying "Well this is something that will be nice to do for you once" He looked at the menu and found it absolutely revolting!!

By the third course he was talking about "maybe one more time" and by the fifth course he was planning our next visit for the chefs table.

V&A is not fru fru for the sake of being fru fru. It's just amazingly prepared food. One course my choices were Elk or Foie Gras. Because my mom told me never to have Foie Gras - I went with the Elk and was planning on not eating more than a bite. That elk turned out to be better than any steak I have ever had.

If you have any strong preferences/dislikes or any allergies - they are so custom here that they will try to adjust the menu for you.

I still HIGHLY recommend it!!

Princessesrules4 or anyone else that can answer this pls.

Could you tell me how you go about to get the menu personalized at Narcoosees.

My DW and I will be celebrating our 10th anniversary at Narcoosees and I think that would be a great surprise for her.

Thank You

I had a personalized birthday menu. I didn't ask for it, but my birthday was noted on our reservation for Narcoosee's and when we got there everyone had a menu that said "Happy Birthday Tricia" with balloons in the corner.

It was a great surprise!
