Naples or Catal?

We love Via Napoli at WDW and think it might be fun to try Naples (looks like the eggplant parm from Via is on the Naples menu!) On the other hand, we (including our three boys) love tapas, and the Catal menu looks great. So I'm thinking of letting happy memories of Via eggplant parm stay in WDW and book Catal instead.

Thought of making reservations for both, but then one would be lunch instead of dinner. We already have reservations for Napa Rose, Carthay Circle, Wine Country, Goofy's Kitchen, Blue Bayou and La Brea.

Which would you choose? And if you would choose both, which for lunch and which for dinner?

I'd choose Naples, but if you were to do both, I'd choose Naples for dinner and catal for lunch

We like Uva for lunch (the outdoor bar area, slightly different menu) and Catal for dinner. Naples for lunch is also great - we often go there if the weather is too sunny/hot. Eating in DTD is often about the same amount of time for us as it takes to eat at a sit down restaurant in the park, even figuring in the walking time. The service is generally faster.

You have a great restaurant list, though I'd consider ditching La Brea if it means you can eat at Naples and Catal.

I would ditch La Brea anyway.

Catal is great at dinner; a very elegant oasis amidst the hustle-bustle of Downtown. We also enjoy Naples for lunch, when they often have a balloon animal maker wandering around.

The one outstanding restaurant that is not on your list is Steakhouse 55. Whether you're planning breakfast or dinner at Goofy's Kitchen, I would strongly recommend changing your mind and going to the much nicer (better food, ambiance, and service) right next door at Steakhouse 55.

Thank you! Thinking more about adding Catal!

Thanks so much! La Brea is for breakfast and in kind of an odd spot. Here's the background: We visit DL as part of our Newport Beach vacations (annual since my childhood.) So this year, it's one week in Newport, three days in DL staying at GCH, and another week in Newport. At the end of our trip, we'll return for DL 10K packet pick-up one day and then run the 10K the next day. La Brea was intended for our 10K runners (DH, DS13, DS14 and me) while we wait for my parents to bring our 6-year-old for the kids run. Thought we'd try La Brea, but maybe we should reconsider. We've done a lot of Storytellers in recent years, and looking for something new. Suggestions?

Thank you!! Agree entirely with the Goofy's advice, but we have a 6-year-old who is losing out on character dining since the rest of us usually vote to eliminate it! We've traded in nearly all our WDW character meals for signature dining, and the only character meal that made the cut this year was Garden Grill. So we agreed to "take one for the team" each trip, and our youngest asked for Goofy's at DL this time. We'll be back in January and will put Steakhouse 55 on our list!

Any breakfast suggestions for after our 10K to replace La Brea?

Naples for lunch and Catal for dinner.

Thanks, Jennifer! Looks like Naples lunch and Catal dinner is ahead! We can fit in another reservation after we pick up our DL 10K packets, so I think we can make it to both!

Have a wonderful time! :thumbsup2

I love La Brea for breakfast!! It's one of my favorites. The only other restaurant you mentioned that I like as well for breakfast (since you've been to Storytellers) is Steakhouse 55. Their breakfast is awesome. 55 is indoors and La Brea outside, La Brea being more casual. I wonder if some people aren't confusing La Brea takeout with the sit-down restaurant. They're totally different. The sit-down is wonderful and the food outstanding. It's also a little less expensive than most of the other restaurants mentioned. The service is also great. In fact, we almost always get the same server! He will happily make substitutions etc.

ETA: I forgot to mention that at La Brea you have the DTD fountains, music and atmosphere plus the proximity to the park entrances.

I haven't tried the eggplant parm on either menu, so I can't say for sure, but it's worth noting that despite having some similar entrees and the same parent company, Naples and Via Napoli are different. I'm just saying this so you don't go to Naples expecting it to be like VN. I still liked Naples (the pizza was pretty good, the Coppa Di Brutti Ma Buoni is better at VN).
