Hello All:

I have had so many conversations about people who return back to their resorts for a midday nap - which makes a lot of sense. It also makes sense that one may indeed need to do this - for whatever reason - AT their RESORT. But for myself when I want a break (I dont have children mind you) I just find one of those rides I can chill on and stay on multiple times if needed (like the Peoplemover.. or a ferry ride).

As a New Yorker many of us are familiar with the that giant sunbathing lawn we have at Central Park. I have always thought MK could would benefit from a designated "chill" or "Nap" zone - with available lawn chairs for reasonable rent or for free. I have even seen it in my mind as an indoor area (to escape sun or rain) that might have indoor grass and perhaps something for entertainment / refreshments (snacks, PAY-TV chairs (with headsets) for those who may just want a break but don't need a lawn chair to sleep) - but it would have to be a QUIET ZONE. I have thought about belongings and I think Disney is such a safe place that you can take a 15-30-60 minute nap and not have your belongings lifted if they are in your hand, but perhaps that is pushing it. Perhaps even a place to check your belongings.

I just thought this might serve as a good idea for people who don't want to lose that hour or 90 minutes or more to return to their resorts.. just people who want a short break... especially for families with small children that go in collapse mode. Parents can watch them sleep and just chill with a drink or a snack and get a bit of a rest for themselves as well.

This make sense to anyone else??? (*_*)

I thought I remember a new sign on the TTA asking guest to exit.

But anyway. I wouldn't want to be the CM asking people to keep their kids quiet.

I used TS lunches for this purpose (a break not a nap). Sit down, AC, much quieter.

Yes, that was another thought of mine (keeping the kids quiet). I think there should be disclaimers that if your kid is awake - time to escort them out / or not bring them in if they are wide awake or not borderlining on falling asleep. Parents know their kids - they should know if their kids is going to hit chair and hit the zzzzz's. But if the kid wakes up.... that's your cue to pack up and leave. But don't know how realistic that is.

I was very surprised a few weeks ago after the Wishes FP+ area opened all the people stretched out laying on the lawn, some on a towel or blanket, def lots of families with infants allowing them to lay, stretch and be out of stroller.

For myself I am able to take a nice power nap in Hall of Presidents or Carousel of Progress. Never crowded. Seats. Dark. A/C. Fairly quiet. Long enough.

It would be impossible to implement. I can imagine the poor cast members trying to keep people quiet.

Plus sleeping people don't spend money.

Yes, sleeping people don't spend money. I agree with that. But they aren't spending money on the Peoplemover either.. nor getting a snack. If this place had refreshments for the awake parties they would indeed be spending money.

You see... that's what I'm talking about. Carousel of Progress is the best for it! lol. Do you think Disney doesn't know which rides we go into and designate as "Chill / Nap Zones!" (*_*)

There used to (essentially) be one in what is now the Town Center Theater.

Used to have a small theater with theater seats that played classic Disney cartoons.
Long gone now.

Yes, an updated version of something like this would be nice. Someone else noted that Disney will simply note that chilling or sleeping people don't spend money. I can actually agree with that except that when us Disney freaks are really ready for a nap or a chill we are going to do it. They are just going to do it... be it on a Peoplemover or The Carousel of Progress or at their resorts... .and there will indeed be a lull in spending.

If you designate something as a "rest zone" people are going to expect it to be quiet. If you start selling snacks for the people in the rest zone who don't want to rest, then you get the complaints from the people who expect quiet.

Disney knows people rest on attractions, but someone can't complain that they couldn't nap on the peoplemover because the soundtrack was too loud. You knew the risk when you chose to use that attraction as rest time.

I saw a post the other day where someone said it was "gross" that people were laying out on the grass. Idk how someone could think it's gross - maybe they've never lived in or visited a city where it's pretty common (like NYC, Boston, and I'm sure many, many others). I'll happily let my kids take a break there.

Wherever we are in public, we generally try to find an out-of-the-way spot to let our kids rest. Luckily, both have always been perfectly capable of sleeping in their strollers (and DD no longer naps), and neither require quiet to sleep. I'd personally find having to go back to the resort to rest to be a huge bother, but I'm sure some people enjoy the break.

They have nap pods in many countries over seas, usually Asian countries. They could put those in and make money. Although, I'm not sure that would work for kids, but maybe the makers also have some kind of kid version. Wouldn't surprise me.

Yes, this is the kind of thing I'm talking about. If even just for adults to start - to keep it more manageable. Then perhaps they can figure out how to best manage a family / kids version.
