NaNoWriMo 2008?

I found a NaNoWriMo thread from last year, but I can't find one for 2008! Anyone writing this November?

I always like the idea of this, but Nov is the worst moth for this, with holidays coming up. I wish they'd move this to Jan or Feb when people are hibernating, (a perfect time to write) and things have pretty much slowed down after the holiday hubbub.

I know! I think January would be better, too. But I'm still going to do it. I'm cheating, though; I already have 16,000 words written and I'm going to add 50,000 more. Technically you're supposed to start from scratch. Fortunately there's a "rebels" section this year, so I'm in good company!

DS is doing it this year and he is trying to talk me into it as well. I havent figured out yet if I can manage it

As long as you get to the finish line, I say, whatever helps you get there! :dance3:

I haven't decided yet if I'm going to try it. I've only finished once out of three attempts, and I agree with whoever said Nov is the worst month for it. Between the last few days of election volunteering, the end of football/cheer season, parent teacher conferences, and getting ready for the holidays, it is just a busy time of year. And it'll be worse this year because we're house-hunting on top of it all.

Still, I suppose it can't hurt to try...

I may join the Rebels section and attempt to finish my Doctor Who crossover fanfic.

How's everyone doing? I'm thinking of ditching my plot and starting over... Which is really freaking me out.

I also can't get anything done tonight with all the election stuff... I can't stay off the election maps!

Oooh... let's keep this thread going. I need all the help I can get, and the NaNo website is dog slow... Besides, I feel like I know people here already, and I'm a bit of an introvert.

I did it, though, I ditched my first few thousand words and am starting with a new (much more interesting) plot. No idea how I could've come up with that old plot... definitely not something I would read, much less write. ugh.

Well, 266 words down, uh... way too many to go.:rotfl:

Im impressed DS is actually doing really well and sticking with it so far. Not bad for a 13 yr old.

May I join? I've done NaNo for a few years now, and really love it! So yep, I'm doing it again this year.

Nette - I did the same thing as you! Well, not ditch the plot, but I ditched the first 2,000 words.

I'd say everyone is welcome... but then, I hijacked this thread. :rolleyes1

I really need to quit READING about writing and just write.

I definately am and I'm up to a little over 4,000 words already when I should be over 5,000. I didn't sit down and write yesterday which I really should have.

My 'novel' is going to be about sled dogs, inspired by the Iditarod. :)

I want to do this, but I seriously just finished an 80,000+ word story...and I'm just a tad mentally exhausted.

Plus, isn't it late to start now? I'm already behind.
