Nano advice needed

Hi - decided to duck my head in here to ask you all about the Nano. Does anyone have one - do you like it? 2GB or 4GB? Did you have to buy a "skin" to stop the scratches? What color do you like?

Whew!!!! I'm thinking about buying one for my son for Christmas this year. It's only been the two of us basically his whole life and there's not been much money. He's been so understanding, even when he was little, if he would ask for something and there was just no money to get it, do it, etc. Now that I've lucked on to a really GREAT job and have gotten semi out of debt, I would LOVE for him to have something that I know he wants, but just won't ask me.

So, if anyone could help me out - I'd sure appreciate it.

It really depends how many songs your son has, but also you can use your ipod as an hard drive so. it really depends what your son want to do with the ipod. the color depends what he like, whit or black though apple did just annonce a pink nano with madonna song that come with it, but he may not like that . So it really depends on your son.

The nano is good if your son does not have a large collection of music. The 4GB holds 1000 songs, and the 2GB half of that. All iPods are prone to scratching, so I would suggest a skin or a nice case for it. You could also get him a iTunes gift card so he could download songs "legally". You can get them in any ammount of money at the iTunes store. It is a very cool mp3 player, but looks best in black. Hope that helps.

Thanks for your advice!! Can you use Napster on this thing or are you stuck w/iTunes? Do you have any preference over Napster vs. iTunes or are they basically the same?

You can use Napster, iTunes is program between your computer and your iPod. It collects all your music (weather you bought it, took it off your Cd's) and then adds it to your iPod. I personally use iTunes and love it. They have many songs and albums that you can't get anywhere else, and at .99 its not bad.

If your son downloads a lot of music, then I would suggest Napster. $15.00 a month for unlimited downloads. Beats out .99 cents a song in some cases.

yeah if your son is obessed with music and listens to music non stop, napster is a better deal. Though i don't have napster so i don't know everthing about it! i do loves itunes and plus there is a free song a week on the itunes music store, though sometimes they are not good, but, hey! they are free. Buying the whole album off tunes DOES come out cheaper than the stores. Itune gift card makes a good gift for anyone who apprecates music for christmas, birthday whenever.

ok well tzmom, i was going to post about the other items that you need for the nano. Ok well my sis' boyfriend has a nano and he said that it get scratch really easy, so best thing is the skins you mentioned. Also you should buy a car recharger, believe me you are going to need one. Trips in the car would be good. Also, if you want to listen to you music on your radio, and cassette ear phone thing, or a FM transmitter is good also. There is new one that are the fm and recharger in one. I hope your son has fun with his new nano
