Nanny 911

Uh, I'm not thinking so on this one... the parents had never disciplined any one of the children in their lives!! Just imagine being a kid doing whatever you wanted whenever you wanted & THEN after eight years to be thrown into timeout in one spot in one room??? His brain was on temporary overload! The kid needs structure and discipline, if the parents don't give that, they'll be medicating the lot of them :( Such a terrible predicament the children never asked to be put in...

I hope things got better for that family!!!

As a former teacher watching the oldest attempt to sit in timeout, I kept thinking he has to be an ADD child!!!

This is one of the few reality shows that I sometimes watch, and let me tell you that this show is a deterrent for a single, childless person like me to NEVER EVER have children!

OTHO, I don't think these parents are as half as smart as I am when it comes to parenting. When discliplining children parents must put up a united front, if you threaten your child with time out and don't follow through then you will have problems, you forget about having a "nice dinner" when three of your boys are under the table. Sorry lady, but "I'm tired" is a lame excuse

Sheesh-I could be a better parent than some of the parents featured on the show!

We happened upon this by accident. DH, DS#2 and I were amazed that anyone could live like that. There were a few times I wanted to wipe that smirk of the mother's face myself.

I have two rambunctious boys who are now teens and I can tell you my kids never did any of the stuff those monsters did all the time. Whew. It was painful to watch. Imagine being a next door neighbor to that family?

Also, how could they afford a nice home like that with her at home full time and him a police officer? Hmmmm.

Are you talking about the McCreighs (sp?)-they had like 4 boys-including twins with red hair? I thought I noticed a Heisman trophy on the coffee table. Was that just me????

Speaking of out of control kids I also happened to watch a Wife Swap episode on ABC last night. A really laid back mom and a military mom swapped places. The military mom had 5 perfectly behaved children-I couldn't believe my eyes-what wonderful parents they have! These two housholds are mirror images of each other!

Are you talking about the Nazi Mom and Dad or the Fuggettaboutit Mom and Dad? I thought both of them were somewhat lacking as parents. Both sets of kids learned more than the parents did.

Those 5 perfectly behaved kids were actually Stepford Children. I felt sorry for those 5. And nobody needs to beat their children with the wacker.

I couldn't agree more! Watched both shows last night and I was ROTFLMAO at nanny 911 and the military dad would have been sleeping with the fishes if I was the one living with him. I just kept wondering if their disuse of the wacker had to do with this now being on TV. I wonder if they just saw how scared their kids were of corporal punishement or if they realized that this can be considered abuse so they decided to "publicly" disavow its use.

Are you serious about the ABUSIVE parents on wife Swap. Because thats what they were. I found them painful to watch. As for the husband whats his name Paul? I would have drown him in that pool long ago. The whacker is hung on the back of the kids door as a detterent. Seriously?????

You know thats how they controled slaves. Keep the whip in sight at all times. Make sure you break thier spirt and then keep them in fear. HORRIBLE.

As for Nanny 911. Those kids were totally out of control. I think the mom was just totally overwhelmed. 5 boys under age 9. No thanks. I have twins myself and all I kept thinking was she had a 7, a 4, and a 1 year old and had twins. I can not imagine the stress that must have been. The fact is she wasn't parenting she was just getting through the day. I do admit I almost died when she wouldn't get up because she was eating. I kept thinking.... Jeez I can't remember the last time. I actually sat and ate a meal!

Honestly not trying to defend her. I am just saying I can understand how she went over the edge. I sure would.

Holy Cow. My DD looks like and Saint compared to those kids last night. I couldn't believe that they were hitting the Mom. Funny how she was totally against the program until something of hers was ruined. Than all of a sudden the program looked good to her.

I had to wonder if the Nanny didn't slip one of the little guys that pen to help mom 'get with the program.' (I don't really think so, but I wouldn't have blamed her.)

Humm you might be right. Did you see the Nanny's face when it happened and the Mom came around.
