Nancy Grace

I often wonder why, when is a man is an outspoken advocate type person everyone says he's strong, assertive...all these positives.

When a woman is the same way, she's annoying, aggressive, a b****.

Kind of an interesting double standard, don't you think?

Let's look at another victim's advocate...John Walsh. He's as outspoken as Nancy Grace, maybe more so sometimes. I have heard him interviewed and he minces no words. Yet, everyone loves the guy.

Thank you, thank you, thank you on behalf of all FEMALE victim's advocates.

I have the utmost respect for Nancy Grace. She was to marry the love of her life and he was murdered. She said the prosecutors asked her if she wanted them to seek the death penalty in that case, but she was young and didn't believe in it at the time. Since, of course she fully supports it (as do I).

She wanted to be a teacher ( Shakespeare I believe), but after the tragedy, she went into law instead. She worked for a prosecution team in Georgia and when the DA that she worked under retired, she had to give her position up. When a new DA goes into power, they bring along their own prosecution team.

She didn't have a job, but she was bound and determined not to represent anyone who is guilty of murder and I don't believe she ever did any defense work at all. She's undertaken a mission and has become a strong advocate for victims and their families. As has already been pointed out, she never lost a case (though I believe one was overturned when it was proven he was innocent). She was very passionate about her work though and she took it all so personally.

IMO, she's a role model that can be looked up to.

Having said that, I don't always like her style, but I know her heart's in it completely.

I really enjoy Nancy Grace....i'm a fan of hers.

She's been through a lot (personally with the murder of her fiance). If I recall, she became a DA in Georgia and never lost a case.

I agree. I have always loved her firm stand for victims. I have appreciated her boldness in interacting with others that have different stands on issues--defense attorneys that are hopelessly blind to some things. I did, however, always wonder about why she seemed so hard. After I heard her story about her fiance then I totally understood. I now know that she has that strong stand and is so hard because she has lived through it. I admire her for her strength and applaud her for her work.

I have to say that I increasingly find Nancy Grace phony and obnoxious. I'm sorry that she lost her fiance, but she never fails to pretend that she's on the verge of tears every minute, crying for people that she doesn't even know. I feel as though whatever happened with her fiance has been so exploited by her now, that it rings hollow to my ears at this point. It's as though she thinks she is the ultimate victim and trumps anyone else's opinion. People seem to like John Walsh because he doesn't come across as a big phony, and doesn't drop Adam's name at every opportunity to further his own career. He'll answer questions about Adam but it's obviously very painful for him. I get the distinct impression that everyone around Nancy Grace tolerates her for their TV appearances, but they've got to be rolling their eyes behind her back constantly! That Rita Crosby is very odd. I thought she had laryngitis the first time I saw her, and then upon subsequent viewings, realized that it's her voice! I love Court Tv, and love to watch the trials, but a little of Nancy Grace goes a long way, and I only watch Rita when the story is compelling. BTW, last night on the news, the teaser was that Natalie Holloway might be alive, according to Dr. Phil? I fell asleep, so missed the story. :confused3

OMG, did someone on this thread actually say Anderson Cooper was gay? Is that true? He's the sexiest man with gray hair I've ever seen. Is he gay or is that just a rumor?

You're funny! Someone in this thread alluded to his sexuality, I guess. I hadn't heard the rumor, but I still like him. After all, it's not like we stand a chance with him anyway! :teeth: :teeth:

I refuse to believe it. Did anyone watch 'The Mole'? Yummy! :love2:

Couldn't agree with you more............there is also a woman on CNBC that I can't stand either I think her name is Cathy Crosby?? Her voice is so irratating although she seems to be a good reporter, it's just her voice! What good is a good reporter with an irrating voice :confused3

I think she's on MSNBC. Yes, her voice is extremely irritating. It always sounds like she has a cold or somethin! I can't take her or Nancy Grace for more than 5 minutes.

I have heard this yes..It is said that he has a partner and they are somewhat open about it.I don't know if it's true
From Wikipedia
Some in the gay community, including activists on blogACTIVE, believe that Cooper's sexual orientation is an "open-secret" and want him to publicly 'come out'. It has been further claimed that discussion of Cooper's sexuality is increasing seen as a liability to his career and so is no longer acknowledged; "his handlers at CNN [are] known to call sites and ask editors to delete references to Anderson Cooper being gay." Blogger Andy Towle referred to Cooper as "the most openly closeted gay man in America" after reading a New York Magazine article which reported on the matter as follows:

There has been a lot of chatter on the Internet about the fact that Cooper may or may not be gay, and Village Voice columnist Michael Musto has taken pleasure in quoting the gay magazine Metrosource, which has referred to Cooper as “the openly gay news anchor.” It has been assumed in certain circles in New York partly because he lives what looks to some to be a gay social life. He’s often seen at parties with Barry Diller, and he’s friends with the lead singer from the outré gay rock band the Scissor Sisters. And then there was the tempest in a teapot regarding a slightly heated interview last fall with Jerry Falwell about gay marriage. Some Cooper-obsessed bloggers insist that the anchor outed himself on the air, taking the gay side of the debate and saying, “We pay taxes.” They claim CNN originally posted a transcript with the “we” and then later changed it to “You pay taxes.” Cooper has maintained all along that he said “you.” When I bring up the sexuality issue with Cooper, he says, “You know, I understand why people might be interested. But I just don’t talk about my personal life. It’s a decision I made a long time ago, before I ever even knew anyone would be interested in my personal life. The whole thing about being a reporter is that you’re supposed to be an observer and to be able to adapt with any group you’re in, and I don’t want to do anything that threatens that

I used to like her but now I find her annoying. Half the time she asks someone a question she just ignores the answer and puts words in their mouth.
Bingo!

I'm the one who brought up Anderson Cooper - I had heard (on this board, if I remember!) that he was gay. Thanks, Jenny, for that info. He's one of my favorites!!!!! Did you know his mom is Gloria Vanderbilt?????

I've only seen her a couple of times but I agree with this. And she's quite obvious in her need to only be photographed/shown from a certain angle ("be sure you have my best side" ;))

but Rita Crosby...

DW and I called her "miss piggy". Especially when she'd whine on wearing a gaudy red number two sizes too small.

I'm a fan of Nancy Grace also - been watching her since the beginning of the Scott Peterson case.

I like Nancy Grace, but Rita Crosby...how did she get a job in broadcasting with that horrendous voice?

I heard Rita Crosby the first time duing the hurricane coverage. Her voice is awful and scratchy. I don't know why she's on the air personally????

She's like watching a train wreck--you don't want to watch but you can't pull away, even though you know what the end result is going to be.

Ha! Good one, Ducklite! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I think Rita Crosby is ten times more annoying than Nancy Grace. It doesn't matter what she's talking about, her awful voice alone will give you a headache
