Nana's Disney Cruise!

Love reading your story. Hope you are having a wonderful time. We are cruising out of NYC on the Magic in September up to Canada. Can't wait to hear all about your cruise (and seeing pictures).

Yea! So glad you had a great time.

I checked in and realized it was the day you left and then I've been checking and discovered you were due back today.

Can't wait to hear all about it

Yay! So glad everyone had the amazing time you were dreaming of!

Looking forward to seeing more photos and reading your trip report!

Nana looks so happy on the sofa!

Be prepared for LOTS of pictures and a VERY long post!!

Thank you, all of you for your amazing kindness and interest in my Nana. She is wonderful. And thank you to the kind lady and child who gave Nana a card and some candies! She loved it. Also, to whoever played "Mini Mouse" and left her a note. She really got a kick out of those. I loved playing it up saying "I don't know who is was Nana! I didn't do it!"

Disney Magic was AMAZING.

We took a limo to the bus and then the bus to the port.

After we got to the ship and got all checked in we relaxed for a while with Nana's feet up (that was the last picture I posted). We didn't make it to the lanyard meeting as Nana was just too tired to go. But they were nice enough to drop our Lanyards off at our rooms! Thank you!

I had ordered the Bon Voyage package, so the decorated hers and papas stateroom and there was a big (delicious) cake! I also got them a fruit and cheese platter and I ordered Nana some Mickey Mouse flowers.

Of course, this was all "from" from Captain Mickey himself so said the cards.

Our first 2 days at sea we relaxed a lot. Spent time in the lounge chairs in the sun, napped a lot and played games (mostly dice). We explored the ship and took in the beauty of the ocean. Spent a lot of time on the Verandah together and talked and just enjoyed her.

Us ladies went to High Tea at Palo the second day. We loved it and had a fantastic time.

Monday while we were docked in Nassau, we took a boat to Blue Lagoon Island. We got lounge chairs, an umbrella and Nana a Bahama Mama! Perfect weather!

We couldn't have asked for better weather. Tuesday, at Castaway Cay, we enjoyed our Cabana. And it's a GOOD THING we had it because she started swelling in her feet and ankles this day. She felt perfectly fine, so we still very much enjoyed our day, but it was nice to have the shade, the comfy lounge chairs and the fridge full of drinks and snacks.

My sister Sarah kept a good watch of her legs and kept them lotioned for her.

We enjoyed the Cabana's luxuries too!

We did take a quick dip in the ocean and enjoyed the sun for about a half hour.

I loved this shot of the ship from the tram on our way back from the Cabana. That's Nana's head...

The worlds biggest bumper sticker :)

And here is a cool shot of the ship while making our way back from the tram.

Wednesday was our favorite day!! MAGIC KINGDOM! And I had something planned for them! I'll let the next set of pictures do the explaining. We went to the wishing well behind Cinderella's Castle and this was sitting on the bench which really surprised Nana and Papa!

And here is what we found when we got there:

Needless to say, they both loved their gifts:

Papa taught Nana how to use her electric wheelchair (he's a pro because he uses them in the grocery stores at home!)

We settled in and waited for the parade before making our way back to the ship.

The next day (sea day) we did more relaxing. Her legs, ankles and feet were still swelling bigger and bigger. We knew how to check for clots and listened to her lungs for fluid to be safe. Still no pain or anything making her feel bad, thank God. We did more leg lotioning and rubbing this day.

The last day at sea we got a phone call from guest services that said they saw Nana was turning 81 on June 15th and wanted to celebrate with her. They invited us all up to Palo for dinner compliments of Mickey Mouse!!

There are so many other awesome details to add but it would be a mile long! These are just the highlights. We had an amazing time and hated for it to end. Waiting for the bus back in NYC was COLD compared to the tropical weather we enjoyed all week. We all piled our extra sweaters on Nana

When I get around to scanning the pictures we bought from the ship, I'll post them!

In other news, yesterday after we made it home, about 3:30, Me and my sister decided it was best to take Nana to the hospital to get her legs checked out because they were still swelling! They admitted her and did a lot of tests to rule out blood clots, kidney problems, congestive heart failure or lung problems. All of those were clear. They gave her an IV diuretic to help get rid of the excess fluid. They think it's the cancer spreading and affecting her lymph nodes and therefore creating a blockage and build up of fluid in her legs ankles and feet.

She was discharged this morning, her swelling has gone down quite a bit, and they prescribed her some water pills to take each morning.

Keep my wonderful Nana in your thoughts and prayers.
