Dear Diary,

Starting weight: 286
Current weight: 278
Goal weight: 150

I started Weight Watchers online in mid-February of this year. So far, I've lost 8 pounds and I have a long way to go. I've done WW many, many times before. This time I'm trying to do it on my own through the online program. I'm hoping this works better for me. I want and deserve this more than ANYTHING in my life!

Everyone says they have a "last straw" moment that got them to really start making changes, and I know I do. Of course, I was miserable about a lot of little things....clothes, feeling fat, out of shape, etc. But one day, I actually made a list of 140 reasons I want to lose weight. I kept writing them down until I ran out of room on both sides of the paper. After I made the list, I looked at it and realized that individually these reasons weren't a big deal. You know? You just learn to deal with the fact that when you are fat, you can't where cute clothes. And you ignore that your s*x life isn't what it used to be. And you push away the negative thoughts that you can't enjoy your "Happy Place - WDW" like you used to because of your size.

And then I had the "last straw" moment - I saw the 140 reasons all next to each other, and I realized I'm not living the life I want for myself. All these things have added up and have taken away the joy in my life.

I have a long journey ahead of me, but I am excited and ready to make the changes needed and looking forward to all the experiences in life that will be even better when I am a healthy person.

My food plan for tomorrow is:

Breakfast:
(1) 1 piece whole wheat toast
(2) 1 Tbsp almond butter
(2) 1 c. FF milk

Snacks:
(1) 1 apple
(3) Luna bar

Lunch:
(8) Homemade chicken, kidney bean & whole wheat pasta salad
(1) 1 orange

Dinner:
(7) Lean burger w/cheese
(3) Baked tater tots

Dessert:
(2) 2 Pim cookies
(2) 1 c. FF milk

Total = 32 pts of 32 allowed

I also plan on starting exercise tomorrow. I am going to start with 20 minutes on the treadmill. That's about all I can do right now. But, hey, its something!

I think that it is great that you actually sat down to evaluate the emotional side of your weight. It will take you far. You are right, thinking of the one reason here or there doesn't seem too bad and you can quickly justify, but looking at the whole picture helps you to see yourself in a new light. It is good to have an idea of what you want out of life aside from weight loss so that when you reach your goal, you can maintain.

Dear Diary,

I've had a great day of eating healthy and working towards my goals. I followed my food plan exactly today, and walked on the treadmill this afternoon for 25 minutes. That is a really good start for me...just need to keep it up every day and work up more endurance.

Your off to a great start!:banana: I think you will be surprised at how quickly you can build endurance. In a few weeks, you will start to see a difference and realize that you can walk longer or increase the intensity slightly.

Just take one day at a time. Every small goal can add up to large losses. I hope that you have a great day!
