Naming the CMs

Most hourly employees do NOT provide last names when emailing guests, at least not DVC member services....it is a generic Member Services address. Those that do use a first and last name for email address are more than likely management personnel.

WDW is a first name company.... most of the hourly Castmembers go by only there 1st name, as is printed on their name tag. They are their real names, though.

I used my name when I worked for Disney Vero Beach.

Name badges are required--and if you forget yours--you become whatever name they can find for you.

i work for a bank, and while most of our employees go by their real names, those working the collections department use pseudonyms... it's for their safety and they usually use a "version" of their own name... i've always wondered about cro's names as they have always been "colorful" or "unique" and now i know... thanks to the op for starting this thread as well as those that chimed in :)

I worked at the Disney Cruise Line reservation Center and we too did not use our real names (just like CRO). When you are done with training you look at the list of names that are already being used. If your real name is not on the list then you have to have your own name, if your name is already used then you can pick 3 names that are not already used and they will assign one of those to you. There is a quick link on the reservations systems to names... You type in the "alias" name of the person you are looking for and it gives you their real name and their phone extention. This is done for the exact reason as other posters have stated. There is only one name used so when you call back swearing that BOB told you something, there is only one BOB and they can get the situation resolved quicker... As for the last name thing... Disney is a first name company (unless you are getting something mailed), Hourly CM's do not and most times will not issue you their last name as the company does not require them to (managers and those in higher up positions will).

Oh, you are lucky. When I worked the phones we didn't get a choice. "Thank you for Calling Disney Dining, this is Dominique Marie, how may I help you?" :smooth:

I was told by one CRO CM that his group had all been given names found in Disney movies. One was even given the name Malificent! Wish they would also give a CM i.d. #. I would like to be able to give credit where credit is due and some of the GG reservation agents I've spoken with have been outstanding. One ("Liza" in Orlando) actually called me back today to tell me that there had been a cancellation for the Good Morning Gathering on the day I wanted it and asked if I was still interested in booking it. That was the first time in the many months that I've been planning my WDW trip that a reservation CM actually called me instead of the other way around...and with such good news! I told her I had been calling every day to check on availability and I think she went above and beyond by following up and checking on her own for me today. Definitely a nice Disney touch! It's nice to know that they are track through the alias, as I will be sure to send kudos to her management.
