Names on reservation when holding more than one reservation

Hey! So I hadn't really considered this until I've been doing the waitlist process, but I have a confirmed reservation at my home resort of BRV. I've now got a ressie for most of the same dates at the Poly through successful use of the waitlist process. When DVC member services confirmed my Poly reservation, they put my daughter's name as guest 1 on the reservation, and she isn't the owner. When I called to ask them if that matters or not, she explained you can't have more than one reservation under the same name. So I assume they do this automatically if they can, but what would they have done if I didn't have an additional person listed on the reservation to put the reservation under? They must do this all the time for DVC peeps, b/c I know that's what most people do if they are trying to move resorts at the 7 month window while ensuring they have something booked in case they can't get a waitlist to come through.

I just want to understand how this works. Doesn't Disney have a policy that they won't allow you to have more than one reservation under the same name so people can't hold rooms? And if they do, I would assume that they let DVC people do it because of the fact that they have an ownership interest or some other reason I haven't considered? Technically, DVC put it under my daughter's name to work around that policy I guess? They can't assume that I want to cancel my BRV (although it should be obvious since I put all 4 of our names on both reservations), but what if I wanted my daughter who is 18 to have her own separate room at another resort? I'm probably rambling, but I just wanted to make sure I understand how all this stuff works for future reference.

Does it really matter who is guest 1 on the reservation?

No it doesn't, the names not listing in order is a known software issue. Having names on more than one reservation is caught by the CM's, not by the system as far as I know. If you want to have the same person on more than one reservation, just modify their name, ie: nick name and last name.

OK...that's good to know. So they don't make exceptions for DVC...what was interesting to me is that they went ahead and booked it when my waitlist came through, to the point of consolidating both of the single nights that I waitlisted with the one night at Poly I already had booked, all of which were reserved the exact same way (all 4 members of my party listed on the reservation). So is this another one of those it just depends on the castmember things?
