Names! I need names!

Does anyone have a name and address of someone higher up the Disney chain to write to, who will respond to a complaint, other than the resort itself?
I had a few issues at AofA that need to be addressed to a higher authority, other than the hotel itself. One of which was the theft of $700.00 in gift cards from my room. I have filed a report with AofA directly. I would like to follow up with a letter.
Please PM me if you have a name to direct my letter to.

Thanks!

Clicked on the thread and thought that user name is just like Ixxxxd's didn't look close enough at first. Sorry you guys had your Gift Cards taken. I hope you filed a police report. I would definitely write the VP of Resort Operations to start. Good Luck.

A great idea that, if I'm remembering correctly, doesn't work? Someone chime in that has done it.....but I think someone told me last year that you couldn't load a reserve on your ressie.....you had to watch your spending and go to the front desk when it got close to 500.00 to put the gift cards on the account to pay it so it wouldn't get charged to your credit card on file.

That's what we were told in Dec '09, and I haven't tried it since. Cash is still okay as far as I know (we last did that in '08 so it might have changed) but we were told they don't have any way to create a credit using gift cards. I'd be interested in knowing if that was inaccurate or has changed with the new computer system because we do use gift cards to pay for our trips and would love to be able to deposit them at the desk when we check in.

I had gc applied to acct. so I had credit back in 2010. The credit was only there for 12 hrs or so but it was there.

I am so sorry this has happened to you, OP. I would be devasted.

I work as a Human Resources Manager for a resort and unfortunately, I've had employees steal from our guests. I am working a similar case right now where it is alleged that a valet attendant stole money from a guest's car.

Of course I don't know Disney's procedure, but I can share mine with you. It's the Security Department and Human Resources that handles these types of claims for my resort. Once the complaint is made, we are working hard on the case. It can sometimes take several days to collect all the information needed to solve the case. We review hours of surveillance coverage as well as review reports of each key entered into the lock of that room. There are several people who may enter the room from the mini bar attendant to the housekeeping supervisor to the housekeeper to maintenance. Since there isn't surveillance in the room, we don't know who actually took the item - just who went into the room that day. We then have to interview each person and hope for a confession.

In the meantime, the guest is at home thinking we're not doing anything to solve the case. Unfortunately, due to confidentiality, we cannot share the outcome of the case with the guest. For example, I can't say that John Doe stole the money and we fired him. All I can say is that we investigated the claim and the appropriate action was taken. The resort cannot press charges if it wasn't our property stolen. (We definitely do if it is Company property stolen.)

That is why you must file a police report as others have stated. The police will subpoena our investigative evidence and press charges on the employee for you.

Unfortunately, many of these cases go unsolved if there is no direct evidence of the employee taking the stolen property (i.e. surveillance coverage of the employee walking out the room with gift cards in hand).

Good luck getting some answers!

They wouldn't do it for us at POFQ in Dec. I guess maybe its ymmv?

OP here..
I reported the theft right as soon as i noticed they were gone.
I used the safe, but one day, I left my travel folder out on the desk without returning it to the safe. I had about 10 different visa gift cards in there with varying amounts. They took the most valuable ones ($500.00 and 2 $100.00 and left the $25.00 and $50.00 gift cards.) I hadn't noticed they were taken because I could see gift cards in my travel folder, just didn't know they were the lesser amount cards.
Also, I called the credit card company before i filed my report to find out if they had been used. In fact, they had been used. All $700.00 at Target in Kissemmee, to which I have never been.
Credit card company has issued replacements.

So glad you were able to get them replaced! How strange that they left some of the cards, though. :confused3 I hope you can put this behind you and enjoy the rest of your trip. :goodvibes

I'm glad you got them replaced. Did you contact the police at all? For that amount o money I would have as soon as I noticed the theft.

Definitely get the police involved. Most Targets have video cameras and there's a good chance the thief was caught on tape using the gift card.

Yes, police reports filed.
And Target does have video cameras at the check out. I even have the time that they shopped! I got a print out of the transactions from the credit card company. But, alas, It is in the hands of the police and Disney claims to pursue it further.
Also, as some posters have said, I was going to put the debit cards on my room when we checked in and the front desk told me "OH, just come back and do that when you are checking out". I never gave it another thought.
So, lessons learned for me. Hope they are lessons for you as well!
If you have gift cards, apply them when you check in and be mindful to use the safe! Even when you think there is no threat of theft!

I think what happens is like another poster stated, the resort may have policies in place where they can't disclose what happens to the employee. You should stay in contact with the police and see what they can tell you. If Target has video and the police know about it, I'm sure they're working on it.

No,not strange. Leaving cards behind makes it more likely someone might not notice anything is missing as quickly as they would otherwise.

The app only shows the first 12 digits of the card numbers. You will need all 16 numbers to freeze a lost/stolen GC plus you will need copies of your receipts in order to get them replaces.

It's a good idea to make copies of them, just like you would make copies of your tickets.

Rather than making and carrying paper copies, I recommend taking pictures with your cellphone. I do this with our park tickets and every new photopass we are issued so the data is easily available if lost or misplaced.

OP glad you were reimbursed, but also sorry you had such an unpleasant experience on your vacation.
