Anyone ever do the name your own price for airlines? I just did this and got $150 (didnt actually purchase - just trying it out). I am just wondering if anyone has ever used this process. Kinda concerned where it says travel from 6 am to 10 pm!

Expect to get the tickets that are least desirable (take a look at Kayak and other sites to see what sites are offering). You are also considered the lowest ticket purchase, so you'd have the least rights on rebookings, etc.

I personally would never buy an air ticket on Priceline or Hotwire in a blind booking.

I've used Hotwire and Priceline for booking hotels, just started using Priceline but have used Hotwire for rooms for years and I'm more than pleased with the price of the hotels and the hotels themselves.I've never looked into booking flights with Priceline but doesn't Hotwire give you pretty detailed info when booking flights,so you're not just booking blindly.

You can get non-blind/open bookings on Priceline and Hotwire. It's blind bookings I would steer clear away from. That said, in most cases it's better to just buy your airfare directly with the carrier instead of through a third party/TA because of rebooking issues and the need to go through your TA for all changes/modifications.

With the name your own price option on Priceline, if you already know that $150 would be accepted then you've already purchased your airfare. They don't let you know if it's an accepted price without you entering your credit card info and requesting confirmation that it's non-refundable before "negotiating" on your behalf. I'd take another look to see if it was really confirmed that this was an accepted price because if it is then you've purchased non-refundable airfare.

I care about my flight times so I'd never use this type of site for purchasing airfare for my family. I did use it once for one of my DSDs to come home over a college break since she was a solo adult (well, 18 if you call that adult LOL) traveller who didn't have any specific need for certain time of day and I was happy with the results. It works well for people who don't care about their airline or travel times.

thanks all. I had not entered a cc so i didn't purchase anything. It seemed weird to me which is why i asked.
