Name That Kitten - With Pictures!! And an UPDATE on Post #20!

So, DH and I are probably getting a new kitten. She was dropped off in a box with her brothers on the porch of a friend of a friend. They think she's about 4 months old. The lady that has her is going to be taking her and her brothers up to the vet for shots and testing for FIV and feline leukemia (the results of which will determine whether or not we can get her, since we already have one cat).

DH picked the name of our current cat (Mischa) and it totally suits her. So, in fairness, I get to name our new kitten. What I'm trying to do is come up with 4 or 5 strong possibilities and then decide when we meet her. I've got a few, but none that I'm really super attached to. Right now, she's in danger of being named "The Unnamed Kitten Project."

The current front runners are:
Lily (an homage to Disney, Harry Potter, and How I Met Your Mother - 3 of our favorite things)

Poppet (another homage to Disney. Was originally going to be Mischa's name, but it totally did not fit at all!)

Venya (Sanskrit for "loveable" and "wished for." Sums up the situation nicely as the lady who currently has her says she is the sweetest kitten in the bunch )

Any ideas on other names? We were trying to think of Disney names at first, but for some reason kept hitting a mental roadblock. Doesn't have to be a Disney first name, though, it was just a thought we had.







Here's the promised pictures. She's one of the gray ones. Actually, what caught our eye in the first place is that she looks almost identical to Mischa when she was a baby!

Oh how adorable. The orange stripe ones look like my Simba when I first got him in December. Looking at the kitties I could see one of the gray ones being called Lily. You said it was your 3 favorite things - now it can be your 4 favorite things!!

I go by markings and color, it is just how I name my pets. I had a gray cat named Ashley (girl) and Smokey (boy).

Also had an orange tabby named Honey.

I think the gray one looking out the window looks like a Molly. The three cats I've had throughout my life were all gray boys.

Those kittens are very cute and almost all of the names would be fine with me. Personally, I'm not fond of "poppet", mostly because I associate it with when the pirates are searching for Elizabeth Swann in the first Pirates movie and that scene always gives me the creeps.

I really like Lily.

I think I may be starting to lean towards Lily, too. I'll post back (if) when we bring her home and I finally settle on a name. lol

A little more background on Poppet (and why I like it so much):

I saw a kitten on PetFinders a few years ago that was the most adorable kitten ever. A teeny tiny little orange Persian that was named Poppet. I loved the name after that, and when we heard it in the first Pirates movie, DH and I both flipped out. After that, we joked that our next cat would be Poppet so that we could come home and say " 'ello, Poppet!"

We have a little gray Lily. She fits her name perfectly! I do really like that name, although I may be biased.

We have a similar gray kitten named Cloudy. Her brother is named Thunder and is all black.

I say that Poppet is an absolutely adorable name for a kitten, especially for one that cute!!

I love the name Poppet for her! She just kinda looks like the name.....I have a red tabby like the one in the photo and he became Meatball, simply because he stole one and perceeded to eat the whole thing when he came home the first day! I just love to look at kitten pics with their little kitten bellies! Good luck with the new addition.

I love Lily. My kitties name is Angel and I call her Lily Girl for short, no idea why.

Try them out on her. I used all the names that I was thinking of for my kitty. She turned and responded to Lucy everytime so Lucy it is!

So, we just got word that the kitten's visit to the vet went well - she has her shots and tested negative for feline leukemia. So, we're going to have her tomorrow!!!

And, I decided on a name (I think - 99.5% sure on this )


Her name shall be....





































Lily.

We'll either start a new thread or update this one tomorrow night once she's home with us and we can get some pictures.
