My SO's daughter is having his first grandchild due in december. He is looking for a name other than "grandpa" for his grandchild to call him. I know you all will have some great ideas. He is not impressed with poppy, grandpa, or pepe. Any ideas?

How about Boppie? My mom has a special friend and that's what all the kids (including my DD) call him. Pop-pop is another one I've heard.

My FIL is known as Pup to all the grandkids. The first one to come along came up with it in his young attempt to say "Papa" - it just came out "Pup." So, it's been that way ever since!

How about Papa? That's what I called one of my grandfathers.

DH's dd and her cousins call his father Grandy. We called my grandfather Pa. My nephew called my dad Bompa.

My kids call my dad PopPop, and my granddad is Poppy. My dad wanted to be called Opa but the kids couldn't say it so PopPop is what he was stuck with.

Old Fart :lmao:

Or if you want a good name: Big Poppa:thumbsup2

We use PopPop for one and Grandpa [name] for the other.

How about Granddad?

My uncle is "Grumps" to his grandkids.

What's the gentleman's ethnicity? What would he be called in "the old country"? Try that as his term of endearment.

We called my grandparents on my Dad's side "Babci" and "Dziadzi" (bob-chee and JaH-gee) b/c they were from Poland and that's what you'd call them in Poland.

DS calls my Dad "Papa" and DH's dad "Grampa Jim".

My cousin's daughter tried to call my uncle "Baba," but it sounded like Bubba. So now everyone, including his granddaughter, calls him Bubba!

Growing up I had grandpa and grandpop. My FIL was Papa. Pick what you want but realize that there is a good chance that the child will come up with something "special" all by themselves. Hence why MIL is Mamoo:lmao:

My Italian Grandfather was Nonno. I guess that wouldn't really work unless you are Italian though.

My kids called the only grandfather they ever knew Grampy. Its what all his other grandchildren called him so we followed suit.

A few times I referred to my grandmother as:

the lady with the pool!
