Name one change you'd like to see DVC make in 2014

DVC Things: I totally agree with everything in the post by MSmithmd above. I would add additional IT requests: transferred points should show in the account, and be able to be used by the member on-line; make the 180+10 work right for ADR's; have a room request box at the time of booking; Oh yeah, and repeat the $399 PAP offer. We really liked that! But bring back the 20% PAP discount. We really liked that, too! I want the triple sheeting at AKV to be themed to the room. Please don't have just white sheets with some brown/giraffe print scarf. Yuck! No $10pp ADR deposit for DVC members. We should have the ability to change our mind at less than 24 hours out. We're a small percentage of ADR's -- cut us a break. Discounted Cabana's at the water parks. We love those! More FP+ entitlements for DVC members. WDW things: Let the magic bands hold all of the info for TIW, DVC discounts, etc. It defeats the purpose of the MB to have to carry all of the card. I agree with others -- park dismissal for line jumping (OK, nobody said that, but that's what should happen). Allow FP+ at more than one park per day. ETA: Sorry. Just noticed you said one change. Oh well.

Transferred points now show up :). I have some in there and can book online happy new year!

I also would love to see either ap (pap or reg) for 399$

But a change I would like would be individual days dp back. Even if it was a 2 night min. And only 1 mug allowed per say 10 day period of time. To assist this issue.

I'd also like bwv to put together categories of bwv and pool view. They are the same amount of points, but some one ends up moving mid through trip due to odds n ends left.

I would like room request to be by booking date, not luck. IE if I book ssr at 12 months out and ask for a DTD view I want that taken over someone booking 2 weeks out. I have still never gotten the view :( . It also means the owners of a resort would end up getting more room reservation request, which it should be. If bc owners who booked at 11 months, want Epcot view over ssr owner who moved ressie at 7 months ... They should get it. There should be a list of more than lower floor for room requests. High floor, ground floor, park facing, near pool, near food, near parking, DTD view, close to bus stop. Each resort should pole and find out why someone wants to be where and why and do it by booking best they can. ... Yes no garentee. Yes it also means you show up at 7 am you don't get a room yet.. And if you check in at 11 pm you also don't end up with exactly what you don't want. There is no reason we cannot have room # a week or 2 out from check in.

I agree with room request based on booking date. At AKV, those who book savannah at 11 months should get the rooms closest to the lobby!

We have two UY's and I always transfer the small Aug UY into our Dec UY. They are all points at AKV. Do transferred points with a different UY show up?

How about courtesy transportation between DVC resorts? We don't rent a car and I hate having to take and extra 60-90 minutes to navigate the bus system or fork over $20 for a taxi to get to a meal at another resort. Those spiffy red vans would be perfect for the job:thumbsup2.

THIS, YES!! :thumbsup2

How I hate being 'laundered' through DTD. Standing at the DTD bus stop, late at night, after a nice dinner at a resort that I am not staying....drives me mad.

Last year we stayed at Congress Park SSR specifically to avoid this, and be able to walk home from DTD.

I vote no on combining categories at BWV. I love being guaranteed the boardwalk view rather than gambling if I will get it or not by request. On your next suggestion, what if they made DTD view at SSR a separate category? Same thing.

I'd like some sort of park tickets plus dining plan package that is discounted...might go to WDW every year then. If not, I am happy to continue with using TIW and discounted APs every other year.

BTW, we are here now and were looking at purchasing the TIW. I noticed that starting August 1, they are adding blackout dates for much of December, March/April, and peak summer times. I'll see if I can't get another booklet to get the exact dates...

If I had to pick just one thing I would like Disney to realize how very terrible their IT systems are and to actually fix them. For this sized company there really is no excuse for buggy/slow websites and the inability to do very basic things without having to call MS. Obviously the "realize" part has to come first because any company with IT as bad as Disney's has no business rolling out an IT-heavy promotion like the Magic Bands...

Terri

Bad IT is everywhere! Google failed IT projects. Dreadfully, we've been sold on outsourced IT when sadly, the basic programming skills, functionality and understanding of the actual users is just not there. Hopefully, WDW and the rest of the world will figure it out before its standards get any lower and we forget that it used to be possible to do so much of what we are told *cannot* be done today.

As an example, I have worked on a project where collectively over 80+ million was spent on an application developed within the last ten year did not have copy/paste functionality.

Here are a few of my wish list items...
1.). Additional perks across the board to enhance the Disney experiences for DVC members.
2.). A differential treatment shall I say between members versus renters or non members paying with cash. I feel strongly non members whether they are renting, trading in or paying cash should not get DVC enhancements of perks.
3.). The ability to purchase all kinds of park tickets including AP and non-expiring at a deep discounted rate. Maybe even throw in the option of using points to purchase...come on this is a wish list!
4.). Another DVC premium location in the DL area...can we say Disneyland Hotel tower or expansion??
5.). Go back to II as the trading company versus RCI.
6.). Some type if a DVC rewards program based on number of points to perks ratio...I know some folks won't like this but it is my wish list!!

I think that is enough for now and this is in addition to MANY wonderful suggestions already included in this string.

Since this is a DVC forum, my DVC change would be to get a DVC management team that truly makes change to benefit the owners and members, not just lip service.

I am another who would like room requests allocated on booking date. We fly in from the UK and direct flights don't usually allow us to arrive at the resorts before about 7pm and we always seem to end up with a rubbish location and if we ask to move there never seems to be anything decent left.

The brilliant PAP offer would be welcome again.

A couple of extra FP+ slots would be great too and wouldn't cost anything so I am sure it could be managed (perhaps not though with the wonders of Disney IT!)

Proper crockery and silverware in Studios. We end up packing plastic bowls and proper cutlery for breakfasts.

A kettle for us tea drinkers would be great too!

1. The $399 AP
2. A faster website with less error pages
3. A discount for the for the Disney Premier Passport that made it
worth getting

1) $399 AP or improved AP deal (won't happen unless also done for FL residents)
2) FL resident deals extended to DVC owners
3) Ability to flex the DDP (on our next trip my mom-in-law is joining us mid-stay, so we can't do the DP as we're in the same room the whole time)
4) MYW ticket discounts

Maybe some special incentives or options via MM+ (extra FP+ options, etc.)

Where outsourced IT falls down isn't usually within the skills but within the communication. When IT is outsourced the company will wrote a functional specification and the IT contract will deliver to that specification. Where an internal IT would probably call the project director and ask are you sure you don't want a copy paste function? That direct communication doesn't happen with outsourced. They will deliver exactly what is asked for in the specification if it makes sense or not.

Boy, do I agree with that! And on T&T day, they didn't even replenish our coffee (nor give us more TP, even though we only had a small amount left). When I called mousekeeping I was told "Trash and Towel" means just that-we do trash and towel. If you want anything more, we'll bring it, but then we'll charge you. In addition, this afternoon tea drinker would love to see a few tea bags. And I'd like to see the continuation of some not so small discounts on park passes, like the good discount on the PAP last year.

Charge for more toilet paper, now that's ridiculous.

There's nothing in the rules for "pay as you play" that charges for toilet paper. Coffee - yes, Soaps - yes, but nothing for TP. I think they were just too lazy to bring it.

They should have replenished the coffee, soaps and the toilet paper on T & T day.

Trash & Towel Service

For stays of 7 or less nights, Trash & Towel Service is provided on day 4, regardless of whether you're using Member-discounted cash, vacation points or a combination of both.

With Trash & Towel service, Housekeeping will:

Empty trash and replace liners in trash bins.
Provide fresh bathroom linens.
Replace bath amenities as needed.
Replenish facial tissues, paper towels and toilet paper.
Replenish coffee, sugar, cream and sweeteners.

Pay As You Play

With Pay As You Play service, you'll be provided with the following amenities free of charge at the start of your stay. After that, you may purchase more amenities for the following fees (fees are subject to change):

Toiletries Package, $5 - 1 facial soap, 1 bath soap, 1 shampoo, 1 conditioner, 1 shower gel
Coffee Package, $3 - 1 package of coffee, 8 sugars, 8 creamers, 8 artificial sweeteners
Towel Package, $6 - 4 bath towels, 2 hand towels, 4 washcloths, 1 bath mat
Laundry Detergent (only in 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom Vacation Homes), $1 - 1 box

We are DVC members, and we stayed 8 nights on points at AKL Jambo this past Dec. When Mousekeeping knocked on our door for T&T day, she was a day early. We didn't need anything since I wash our towels, we drop our trash in the trash room, and I pack my own coffee, washing detergent, etc. The Mousekeeper spoke limited English, and she was delighted when I explained to her in Spanish that we needed only more soap for the bathroom. She returned a moment later and gave me a big bag filled with bath soap, shampoo, etc. The next day, which actually was our assigned T&T day, we returned to find more soap and bathroom amenities, more towels since our dirty towels still were in the dryer, more laundry and dish washer detergents, coffee and creamer packs, etc. the same thing happened on our regularly scheduled cleaning day. We made sure to check our bill to see if we had been charged for all of the extras, and there were no extra charges. AKL is our home resort, and we always have received excellent service, but this year it was exceptional. Every CM we saw at the resort was friendly, polite, and seemed happy to help us if we had a question.

I love the stacked washer/dryer suggestion for Studios. We always get a one bedroom for washer/dryer (and frankly more room), but if a washer/dryer were in the Studios, our trips would move from two times per year to probably three or more. A simple washer/dryer would therefore equate to us spending more money from more frequent trips in WDW. Win win I'd say. Listen up DVC!!!

PAP discount also held us hostage to WDW for four trips. To the point where we are only going once this year when PAP expires in May (theme park exhaustion) and we'll be at Vero Beach in the Fall and Winter. If most are like us and you bought the discounted PAP, you are more prone to go to WDW, spend money on trinkets, dinners, entertainment etc. etc. Another win win DVC management!

I'd also like to see a system whereby DVC members (and renters) are held accountable for the state of their room when leaving. But administratively, it would probably cost more than it's worth. However my wishful thought was, for example, rental car agencies that inspect the car with you before you take it and then again upon return. You're held accountable for the condition of the car. At my company, if you drive through our entrance/exit gates and destroy the gates and it's on camera, you and your insurance company are responsible for the bill. Having a process like this might (?) keep the annual dues down a few pennies. Remember...this was a wish list ;)

Lazy-YES! Gee, that's exactly what member services told me when I called when I got home. Meanwhile, the hotel was wise not to stop me when I tiptoed into the public restrooms off the lobby and "permanently borrowed" a roll of TP. BTW, for anyone not a DVC member, but thinking of it, in 12 years as members, this was a first.
Boy, there've been so many great ideas for perks here. I hope DVC is reading these.

Make a room switch feature that allows you to switch at seven months, automatically cancel your home resort when you're switching and apply the points to your new room. Taking away the risk of canceling, returning to book the resort you're wanting to switching to, and being out of luck with both this and the reservation you previously had.

So you're saying that at seven months, if I go to book another room, and I don't have the points (because I already booked at my home resort), it won't prompt me to cancel my reservation that already exists and apply those points to the new reservation?

Because that's exactly how it works, as far as I know. I'll let you know when I go to do that in February.

It doesn't prompt you and if you have points that can be banked for the reservation it doesn't prompt for that either.

Disney doesn't want to make it easy to switch, they want you to buy more points.
