Was wondering the name of the sea lice lotion? I have read something about this and wanted to try tracking some down. Where can you purchase it at?

It's called 'Safe Sea' and it comes with and without SPF 15 or SPF 30.

I bought mine at 'Life Styles Direct' at Life Styles Direct Website

You can also get it at 'Divers Discount' at Divers Discount Website . They also have a phone number for orders at 800-34-scuba.

I'm also told that it's available at Ron Jon's store at Cocoa Beach (open 24 hours) if you're at the Port early.

"Sea Safe" is the name of the lotion I purchased. It also has sunscreen in it. I bought my at a diving supply store. I have seen other references on this board to web sites where it can be purchased.

This is an article on Sea Lice for the Palm Beach Newspaper.

Palm Beach Fla Newspaper Article on Sea Lice

Basically, they're a tiny version of the Jellyfish and they sting you when they become irritated after being trapped in your bathing suit after swimming in the ocean.

The Sea Safe lotion is said to provide protection from the little guys.

Their 'season' is said to be from March until August.

I bought and used the Sea Safe lotion as an inexpensive insurance against the Sea Lice. I used it in late January and did not encounter any Sea Lice, but I can't say that anyone else on my cruise did encounter them either.

I should have mentioned in my first post that it costs $12.95 plus shipping for a 4 ounce bottle.

I also tried to find it on the RonJons Website and I couldn't get it to display. That doesn't mean that they don't carry it, it could be in a category that I didn't use, or it could be sold only in the store.

I have been following this thread and others about sea lice. Is this a big problem from March to AUgust or it is a hit or miss type of problem?

I am not sure if I can get the order in time for the cruise.

Any cruisers with encounters with these little pest that can share?

THANKS!!!!!

BUMP.... Did not get to the top.... ......

last bump trying to get this up...

I noticed the comments regardingthe "sea lice" referred to March to August. Is that just along th Florida Coast, or is that also for Castaway Cay as well? We are taking the November trip.

Thanks... Paul

The Sea Lice actually range in the Atlantic Ocean from Canada to Key West, the Caribbean, and in the Bahamas, including Castaway Cay.

They are tiny little guys that can't be seen when you're swimming and they tend to get trapped in your clothing, like in your bathing suit. When you get out of the water and dry off with a towel or sit on your beach towel or even when you get in the car to drive home from the beach, they become irritated and can sting.

I have no proof of this, but I've often wondered just how accurate the March to August range is. That's a lot of ocean and I can't see how it can be 'off' in February and 'on' in March, there has to be some over lap in there.
