I'm in so much trouble. I spilled nail polish--dark blue no less--on our tan carpet. I worked at it with nail polish remover for about half an hour so now it is a light blue patch. Does anyone have any other suggestions for getting the stain from the carpet?

Try calling a carpet store - they have have wonderful "remedies" for things like this. I only know this because DH got TAR on carpeting that was about 3 weeks old.

Good Luck!

I got red nail polish out of my white carpet with nail polish remover. It took two large bottles and a bag of cotton balls and a couple of hours! LOL Keep at and you'll get it out.

Years ago my oldest DD spilled dark red polish on my tan recliner and also all over one of my youngest DD's outfit:scared1: (was an infant at the time). I sprayed Mean Green on both until saturated and let it sit for about 20 min and with both I only had to use a wash cloth and mainly get the mean green off. The mean green had dissolved the polish until it dissappeared.:thumbsup2

DD19 did the same thing several years ago as a young teen. I tried to clean it myself and just created a big light blue circle. I ended up calling around--it took about 3-4 calls to find a carpet cleaning company that said they could try to remove it. They were successful (yay!!!) and it ended up being about $40 extra on a whole house carpet clean. That experience and one other made me realize there is a huge range of skill, training, and quality of equipment among carpet cleaners.

I got it out of my daughters tan carpet with shaving cream, she didnt tell me and by the time I found it it was dry. You can just barely see a slight pink small circle and this was bright fuschia polish.

If worse comes to worse and you can't get it out, rather than living with it for the next decade ;) (like I did when I wasn't aware this could be done), you can call the company you bought it from and they can cut it out and replace it with a new piece.

My youngest was doing a manicure on her cousin and spilled black nail polish on my grandmother's carpet. My Gram used Lestoil to remove it. It stinks but Lestoil is amazing! I swear everyone in Maine uses it.

Spot Shot--the aerosol can--got red nail polish out of my family room carpet.

Had the same thing happen here years ago on a brand new carpet. We used acetone with a lot of elbow grease. It finally came out.

Good luck.

Also recommend using Spot Shot after getting most of the deep stain out with nail polish remover/acetone first. I have a tween that is really into nail polish now and we recently had this incident in our house. Fortunately we have berber carpet throughout our house so it wasn't too tough to get out.

Thank You, as we have a carpet business and husband has done the carpets for over 30 yrs. Repairs, dyes and cleaning. People dont understand that all carpets are not alike and certain chemicals may have a different reaction to the carpets. It is nice to hear that someone appreciates the industry.
