I almost got one too when I order my D90 but thought I wouldn't need it. Now I wish I had it. I could have used it during my nieces graduation since we were pretty far away. Now if I could just have it and also a macro lens, I would be satisfied (until I see another one I want). NAS sneaks up on you and won't let you go.

Well Laura I still have not had a chance to really use it yet. I did bring my gear with me last night to my BIL house. We had a bbq there

Here's a few shots I took. Not to happy with results I still need to dial this lens in. The lighting was not very good, lots of shadows. Oh well enough with the excuses.....

Congrats, Dave, on the early FD gift. A superb addition to your growing Nikon collection. The 70-300VR is an excellent piece of gear and was my mainstay prior to acquiring the 80-200 2.8D earlier this year. You are sure to enjoy what the additional reach, excellent optics, and VR can do for you.
