MYW Plus Pass Question

I have a question about the MYW Plus Pass. Let's say I'm staying 8 days and I buy a 6 day pass. I know the clock starts when I first use it.

If I skip a day at the theme parks and go to a water park, does that water park eat into my 6 days, or are the 6 days referring to the theme parks only?

The lovely thing about the MYW ticket system is the flexibility.

Just like the old PHPs, using a day at a water park/Disney Quest/PI doesn't eat into your MK/AK/EP/DS days.

Also note that if you do not purchase the "non-expire" option, you have 14 days from the first use to use all of the days on your pass.

If you're currently looking at a 6-day pass, don't forget to compare pricing on the 10-day pass with the non-expire option. The per-day cost decreases substantially on the longer passes. If you're a DVC member, you might be much better off getting the 10-day pass and keeping the rest of the days for a future trip.

Thanks for the clarification.I knew how the old park hoppers worked but wasn't sure that the MYWs worked the same.

Also maybe I will look at a longer pass with a non-expire option.

Done forget to compare to the Annual Pass which will not expire for a year. With the DVC discount it's likely much less than $100 pp extra for this situation compared to the 6 day MYW Pass What's best depends on how you will use it and when you will return. Comparing a 10 day ticket with no exp to a 6 days that expires in 14 days give you a per day cost of $35 vs $40. The AP will be about $80 more than the 6 day and actually less than the 10 days.

Dean - You make a good point. I've thougth about it. I know we will be going to a water park once during our stay and to PI at least once. I calculated this into the price of an AP and paying separately for these non-park attractions. It came out much more expensive.

I also thought about when we would return. I think that will be more than 12 months from the upcoming August trip, probably about 13 to 14 months later.

What was attractive was the ability to buy a DDE (is this only available with an AP?) and the ability to renew the AP for only $75.

AP renewals are much more than $75. The DVC DISCOUNT on AP renewals drops from $100 to $75 because renewals are already discounted a bit. A renewal runs $298 vs. the current non-renewal price of $314.

Remember that DVC members get a small discount at DQ, PI and the water parks. If it will be more than 12 months obviously an AP won't do. Then the question is can you change your next trip to take advantage. Then if you can't, will it be better to have an AP for that trip and beyond thus making it more reasonable just to get a 5 or 6 day pass now as the price isn't that much higher overall, maybe $5 per day more on the shorter ticket.
