Has anyone tried to price out a package themselves with the new park passes? Mousesavers has some sample package prices, as well as Your Magical Journeys (they have it with the dining option). The way i figured it, the packages don't add up to the cost of the individual items...

when you price out (without tax) the individual components, the packages are more than the components put together. So is there something extra that you get with the package?

Based on Value season, value resort for 6 nights... 7 days park admission (no add ons)... the differences are:

Adult: extra $44 for the package per per person
Junior: extra $14 per person
Child: extra $10 per person.

so for a family of 4 (2 adults, 1 junior, 1 child), you'd be spending an additional $112 to book it as a package rather than room only with your park passes separately?

What am I missing?

Package prices INCLUDE tax. It's 11.5% on most resorts (13% at All Stars) plus 6.5% on the tickets and meal plan. That's probably the discrepancy.

really? so when they say $474 per person, that includes the tax on both the tickets and the room?

If that's the case, then it makes sense (I come up with $473 for an adult).

thanks.

One more question for those "in the know" about packages...
can you apply a AAA discount to a package? Or is that only for room only?

Oh, Goodness I hope so.....

AAA would have to offer this at some kind of discount - what would be the advantage of booking with them. I called AAA and was told that January was AAA discount month - what exactly does that mean? I don't know, but I will explore AAA before I book via Disney. They were not able to tell me about anything new Disney has to offer.

Did you get a discount with AAA when you booked the Dream Makers Package?

I've never booked a package... always done room only (either a code or AAA discount). Never liked having to use a UHP that was part of the packages previously. But with the new MYW passes, it looks like the packages are no more expensive than doing the components yourself... unless of course you can't get the AAA discount..
