I just wanted to let those of you know that I had called today and changed our ressie from 10/2-10/6 w/4 day base tickets to 10/2-10/7 w/1 day base tickets. At first the CM told me that she wasn't sure if I could get just the 1 day tickets with the "special" package. I kindly asked her to try it. She came back and told me that the lowest she could find was 2 day base tickets. She told me that they didn't sell the 1 days over the phone. I then kindly asked her to get someone to help her. She placed me on hold for a few minutes and came back and guess what???

I got what I wanted!!!!! :teeth:

It took some probing but it was REALLY worth it!! Now, instead of having to pay off $1027 by August 17th, I only have to pay $714. We can upgrade our tickets when we get there.
Just wanted to pass this on for those of you that are having so much trouble getting this "special" plan accomplished. KEEP ON THEM!!!!!!! :wizard:

Just wondering why you are upgrading your tix when you get there? (what is the advantage?) I thought the only reason for booking that special package with a 1 day ticket is if you already have tix like an AP or something? Thanks

It sounds like her reasoning in this case for getting one day tickets is because the entire balance of a package has to be paid 45 days in advance. If she upgrades her tickets when she gets there then she will have that additional 45 days to save for the tickets for to earn the interest on the money whichever the case may be :)

Oh ok that makes sense :) Thanks!

Sales tax in disney is 13% - I saved a bunch by purchasing premiums on hotwire(no shipping either) - I can get the non-expirey when I get there. There are a few places to purchase at a discount. If you do your homework, you can save over the price of the tickets at the hotels.

That is true, but you can not do a package with tickets you purchased from other places.

I believe they were saving money buy just getting the dining package for length of stay with 1 day base tix. I already have premiums, so booking more tix would be an expense I already took a bite on, she was trying to get her 45 day total down.

Yes, the reason I did it this way is b/c we haven't saved a DIME yet for our vacation. I originally had booked for 4 nights w/4 day tickets and FREE DINING. When I found out that the park days DID NOT need to match the length of stay, I changed it b/c it would be easier to pay off $714 then $1027 by August 17th. We are not charging this to a CC, but paying with our bank debit card. So we can't just pay for this later, KWIM??

Sounds like a good plan. :)

I did this in April and will be doing the same thing for our October trip. I'm hoping ticketmania will have a good deal on passes between now and October.

Hello, are these sites safe such as ticketmania and do they save you a lot of money, has anyone else delt with them or someone else with a recommendation? Thanks

I have bought from Ticketmania before... they are great andwitht he mousesaver email you save even more!!!

Have you looked at the New package that includes the Free Meals? To me that's the Best Deal Disney ever offered , because that could run into money. :cool1:

Be wary, we have a family of 6 and I priced out doing 5 nights with free dining with 1 day tix through Disney and then the rest through Ticketmania compared to purchasing them all through Disney and I came out ahead purchasing them all through Disney (even with the mousesavers newsletter discount through ticketmania) The reason this is is that those 1 day tix are so expensive and the Disney price gets sooooo cheap to add on additional days when you get up to 5,6,7 and up days. I am just saying run the numbers first!!!

I was also thinking of downgrading to the 1 day tix and then upgrading when we get there when I decide how many days we'll be at Disney.

I think I might look into this to see if the numbers come out in my favor. I am able to buy my tickets at Shades of Green without tax. It might be cheaper to do it this way. I just worry that the one day ticket is soooo much $$$$. We'll see though. Thanx for the idea! :goodvibes
