My family and I are going to wdw in oct. My mother-in-law bought all our park tickets for christmas and shortly after I made reservations through wdw for por for 8 days. How can I add the dining to our stay? We have 7 day PHP tickets for everyone, is there any way to upgrade through disney to 10 day and add dining that way? or am I outta luck? A friend of mine just came back from her trip and said the dining plan was more than worth it? Help, what can I do? I'm planing on 4 character meals and the hoop dee doo which all except the dining tickets, and between me, dh, dd10 and twin dd7 right there is about $500. I don't mind paying that if I had to but a break in costs would help! Any thoughts? Thanks in advance for your help :)

You have to book a package with park passes in order to get the dining plan.
The number of park days doesn't have to match the number of nights you're there. You purchase a one day base ticket for everyone in order to book the dining plan.

when in october are you travelling? if you arrive before the 4th, it might benefit you to purchase a one day park ticket and change your room-only reservation to a package (but if you are getting any kind of room-only discount such as AP or AAA, you will lose that and convert to rack rate) because you would then be entitled to the free dining... if you have to pay for the dining, you will need to do the math and see if it benefits your family to switch everything else, buy the add'l park ticket and lose any possible room-only discount... a simple spreadsheet should tell all!

we're going oct 7-15, our room is already booked, but at this point i'm considering cancelling the ressie i have and going through aaa (for the same dates and place) and getting a package with just 1 day park passes so we can get the dining. i'll get the non-exp tickets becuz i'm sure we'll be returning at some point.
the only discount i'm getting is the aaa disc. which i believe is 15%, but i'll be booking through aaa anyways so I would still get that rate, just add on one day park and dining.
oh, my aching head!!!!

so no chance of getting the free dining by moving your trip up a few days to the 4th... bummer...

you really need to weigh the difference in cost between the extra ticket costs ($60+ for a one day, i think) including the upgrade to no-expiry vs. what you will save by being on the dining plan... it may not be worth it... check out the menus at www.allearsnet.com to get an idea of where you'll eat, what you'll order and if the meal plan is a bargain for your family...

I have four char. meals (3 breakfast, 1 dinner) and the Hoop Dee Doo, right there for me and my family is $500, that's not including 6 other breakfasts and 8 lunch/dinner. I plan on doing late breakfasts, skip lunch, early dinner or early breakfast, late lunch skip dinner. But I'm a snacker, my kids love it cuz I never say no to junk at parks. I'll have to check out all my options, call aaa and get prices and see where I'm better off...Thanks for your replies...
