We just got back from 9 days with a large group- 24 people 11 rooms. Dining was a disaster. 22 of the 24 had myw dining. DH and I had dde. It took us 45 minutes to an hour every night to pay the bill. It seems that each restaurant has to call the hotel for each room. A 4 or5 minute procedure for a single room- but times 10 it was a mess. Add to it a bar bill and it got wild. We ended up just paying the bar tab in full and settling it amongst ourselves-because it was too painful to do otherwise. We tried everything to ease the process but nothing worked.
I might add that it was equally horrible for the restaurants. We tied up several tables each night for an hour more than neccessary just trying to pay and get out. No wonder the servers hate the new dining plan.
Also many of the snack vendors can't seem to process the myw dining cards- making buying snacks another laborious process. t was very hot out and we were all addicted to the mickey ice creams- but we learned to hand over our card first and not let the vendor get the pop out until after the transaction went through. Had too many that melted while waiting for the card to go through.
Ironically flying home we purchased a snack from a stewardess who managed to process our credit card payment at our seats with a hand held system in seconds.
There were many many problems with Disney's computer systems- topic for another forum- but it is amazing how antiquated they are given the superior tchnilogical nature of their theme parks.
