Well, maybe not lost but certainly shrewd and trying hard not to get taken advantage of. So it LOOKS like a good deal. The trip is just two adults and we like sit-down meals (and we do order appetizers, entrees and desserts when we dine out) and we like that tips are included. We don't drink alcohol so that's a plus for us too. However a LOT of the restaurants we were planning on doing take up TWO "points" instead of one (Le Cellier, California Grill, Yachtsman Steakhouse) or aren't on the list (I think the San Angel Inn isn't on it or L'Originale Alfredo's Di Roma). We would use the "snack" points for drinks instead of ice-cream or popcorn and the counter-service meal points seem to have no "down-side".

Are we better off Buying food solo, or getting the plan (7 days) and just forking over (hahahaha) the extra dough (hahahahah) to eat at the places not on the list or when the sit-down meal points run out???

For us the plan made sense. You have to sit down and plan out all the meals you would normally eat and see where you come out. Some of our favorites are not covered as well(San Angel, etc) so we just decided to try new ones this year.

But if you consider $10 per person for a counter service meal (these have gone up considerably, was just there in March) and $2 for a soda at a snack cart you are already at $22 for lunch, dinner, and a refreshment.

The plan is allowing us to eat a lot more table service than we would normally do for the same or even less $

I wonder if this plan will have an effect on restaurants like San Angel who do not participate. Maybe if it does they will work out a way to participate in the future or at least lower prices.

We also think it is a good deal, and have booked the plan for our trip this year.

Here's an example we posted before about the plan:

Go to Concourse Steakhouse and order a shrimp cocktail ( $8.99), an 8 oz. Filet Mignon ($ 27.99) , a cheesecake for dessert ($ 6.99), then add on a coffee for $ 1.75. Totals $ 45.72. Then add on the tip (15%--$7.00 and the Florida Tax around $3.00. Your total for that ONE meal is $55.72. For that day, you have paid only $35.00, and on top of the dinner you had for $ 55.72, for lunch you had a counter service for around $10 and a soft drink in the parks for $ 2.00. For the day, you got around $ 68.00 worth of food for $35.00.
