MYW dining for less

You can use the meal plan until midnight on the day you check out. So yes you can use your dining plan after you checkout of your Resort, and before you go home.

Most excellent! Thank you. :cool1:

I can't believe the number of people that are planning to save up the kid’s credits and use them for adult meals.

I really don't understand why people think this is such a big deal. My daughter will be 4 on our trip...she eats like a mouse! I intend to pay cash for her meal and "bank" her credits too allow for more sit downs. Why shouldn't I feel ok doing this? Disney is still getting plenty of money from me, i am paying for her meals, there will be no sharing(although i don't see any big deal with that either), and we will also pay cash for our 18 month daughter to get a child's meal.
We see this plan as a way to dine at places we would not normally be able to afford...that to us is a big part of the vacation.

I have planned our meals for a month now, and believe me, we are taking full advantage of the dining plan, however, we will also be spending a good bit extra too.
i feel there is absolutely nothing wrong with doing this.

I say if the other family is willing to share the meals, go for it. I mean you are going to be paying them 1/2 and eating 1/2, if you are good friends, it shouldn't be an issue.

My only concern would be that you would not get enough food, but I have never been and have no idea how much they serve at counter service.

I don't think it's a big deal to bank a child's meal credits to allow for more sit-downs for a child.

The way the plan is set up now, someone could bank 2 kids sit down meals then use them for an adult dinner at a signature restaurant. I'm sure no one believes that's how Disney intended for the plan to be used.

I understand that many kids won't/don't eat much. Since it only cost $10.00 a day for two meals and a snack who cares if little Johnny only eats a chicken nugget and a scoop of mac & cheese?

The OFFICIAL MYW dining guide states:
Note: Upon Check-in, all meals from the package are combined into one central account for maximum flexibility. Any Guest in the party may use the meals from this central account at any time during their package stay until all the meals are depleted.

So clearly, Disney themselves want any guest (adult or child) to be able to use any of the credits. It is not a loophole. Clearly Disney, understands how this plan will be used by many families!!!!

Don't get me wrong!!! WE (dh and I) would be using any leftover meals that we don't use for our dd3. It is really too bad that they don't offer it to you because you have an AP! You must do what works for YOU!

Best of Luck! ;)

I know, it IS too bad that we can't get them as APH's. When I first found out about the dining package, back in December I was on the phone immediately, as we had a January trip planned. While I was on hold I was jotting down ALL of the PS's we would do LOL! I was SO bummed when they said we couldn't get the dining package.

I'm grateful that we CAN get the DDE (which you could NOT get at the beginning of January when we went) as APH's, but the dining package would just be SO FUN!! I didn't take your comment wrong BTW, so don't worry about that. Just explaining since you asked why we didn't get the dining package in the first place. :)

There's no way I'm going to believe Disney wanted/expected an adult to have a complete table service dinner, including tax and tip, for less than $10.00 or $20.00. :rotfl: :rotfl2:

If the meals are meant to be used by anyone regardless of age, why not just charge one standard rate for the package? Why have an adult price and a child price?

If they knew adults would use the kid's credit, why would they make the kids price so low?

Come on now - Disney is not stupid!!! Why would they make a point of stating that ANY GUEST can use the plan if that is not what they meant. I can't for the life of me understand why you want to speculate on what they wanted it to mean when they clearly state what the way in which it can be used. Take a look at the chart they provide in the brochure. I'm quite sure they could have made adult credits and child credits seperate if they really wanted to!!!

Believe what you want, but I'll stick with the creator and seller of the package tells me about it not what one individual wants to speculate on how the company really wanted the package to be used

Relax

I really don't care what you do. Use the plan the way you want.

I plan to use adult credits for adults. When there are kids in our group, we'll use the kid credits for kids.

I'm new and don't understand how you use the child meals for adult meals and where did you find this answer? I thought it said children have to eat off the kids menu.

You can pay for the kids meals and then use the credits at another meal. Many people have doen this already. Just do a search for some of the trip reports :)

I think Disney has calculated all factors in...don't you? I am sure they have figured that some credits bought for a child will be used for an adult. Is it worth them getting nit picky...no. We all still have to eat. So whether you pay out of pocket for the kids, share a meal, or give a meal credit away, everyone still has to eat while they are there. Heck somedays they might even make money off a $35 meal credit if a person did not eat at 2 of the more expensive restaurants! Oh, and does the fact that only 9 and under qualifies for the child meal credit make anyone wonder? Instead of 11 and under at the restaurants at Disney? Eventually it will all even out some how. Plus, so far, on these plans you can not even get a discount on your room. I know you can if you go through a AAA agent but (I found out recently when I called) AAA does not book more than 7 nights on the plan and the quote still sounded too high. So for us we would give up a discount on our resort and since we are military we would give up a discount on our MYW tickets. They are definitely not coming out behind with this plan. Most will do the plan for convienence. The ones of us that like to save or "work the system", I am sure, are a very small percentage that they know are out there but are not going to fuss with.

You can use the dining plan with a discounted room. Theres a three letter code that the CM has to enter in order to do it. The code doesn't give you any additional discounts, it just allows you to add park passes and dining.

I was able to book our April trip with a code and add on the dining plan.

well, i intend to use most of my child's credits for my husband and i for more sit downs....and i do not feel bad about it at all. Like i said in my previous post, we will be paying out of pocket for her and my other daughter, who is not old enough for the plan.

I know a lot of people call this a loophole, but the statement in the brochure tells me there is nothing wrong with doing this. I don't consider it a loophole at all, Disney is very clear on how the plan can be used...i think if it was a concern to them, they could have kept child credits seperate.
