I am daydreaming about possibly receiving one of those email code thingies and was checking out the MYW dining options. Picking out ten sit down restaurants was pretty easy, hard part was paring them down to just ten. :teeth:

Counter serve meals are not nearly as interesting. Many of the menus I checked out on Deb's do not even list desserts. I am correct in thinking that you must have an entree, dessert and beverage all in the same place and at the same time?

Anyone have suggestions for each park for how to pick counter service meals that are unique and worth the bucks?

I am also concerned about the Counter Service meals. I plan on using some of them for breakfast at my resort.

Yes, entree, beverage, and dessert must be ordered together.

We enjoyed Columbia Harbor House (I requested grapes instead of whatever the dessert is, and that was nice), Peco's Bill's, and for breakfast the Food Court at POR.

My top 3 places from last week were

Tuskers House excellent chicken and rice dish. The chocolate cake was unbelievable. It was the only dessert I finished during our trip.

Columbia Harbour, the apple pie was good but I could only eat two bites.

We went to the American counter service place in Epcot on our last night. They have a turkey sandwich served on a bagel with a salad that was a welcome change from burger and fries. The apple pie and vanilla ice cream was a nice simple dessert.

Now if I can just get that email offer, we can try some of the places we missed last week when we return in October. :mickeybar

disneyjunkie, thank you for the great suggestions. I have never met a chocolate that I did not like either. LOL I am jealous of your Mickey Bar icon. That is my favorite DW treat. I had one every single day on our last trip, 16 days.

cocodog, good to hear that you can substitute a bit. Grapes would sound good after several days of lots of food. (how the mighty have fallen, who'd thunk I would ever say anything like that and mean it?)

John's Mom, we are not much on breakfast so that is part of what is making this hard to decide.

Pepper Market has a lot of variety and is a counter service option. We also really like Tuskers (excellent salmon...hard to believe it is fast food)

Tangierine Cafe in Morocco at EPCOT...tons of food on those platters and a real change of pace.

Wolfgang Puck Express at DTD is another hard-to-believe-this-is-fast-food kind of place...Earl of Sandwich is also excellent, although not quite as good a value it is still a great sandwich.

Cosmic Rays is my favorite at MK...the chicken and ribs combo is pretty good and huge (we always share, it is PLENTY for 2 big eaters)

We also really like Artists Palatte at Saratoga Springs if you happen to over that way...it is NEVER crowded and the home made soups and flatbread pizzas are excellent, and the deserts can be great too.

The only place really lacking an interesting/decent counter service venue IMHO is MGM...they have several nice table service options, but really blah counter service....oh well...life is hard!!!

I agree with the previous post, MGM counter service, is just food. Nothing that great. We ate at ABC, and it was very greasy, and heavy. Next time we will eat at the resort food court, before we go, if we are not planning on a table meal there.

Our favorites:

Ep: Seasons, at the land pavillon. Wonderful menu, and great dessert (cheesecake, strawberry shortcake, creme brulee) This was prob. one of our greatest meals all week

MK: Caseys, and Columbia harbor house. Hamburgers at Pinochio's were good too(but I hear they are changing the menu there)

AK- Flame tree, and Tusker House, are not too miss.

Also- We got milkshakes, a couple of times instead of dessert. Most places had brownies which aren't all that great in my opinion.

It has occured to me that we could eat around the World Showcase with this food option. Would be a simple thing to grab a platter at Morocco and then walk on around to Germany for another bite later, sharing the meals, and then end up at the Rose & Crown for dinner. We have often enjoyed snacking our way around and this would add a whole new dimension to it. Just a thought.
